FSIL has a 3 and 5 year old and we just let her know that the shuttle we're providing for hotel guests is at 5pm going there and at midnight returning to the hotel at the end. We wanted to give her a heads up because she has such young children they might need an alternative by driving themselves. Her reply was 'what kind of shuttle service is that!', 'you mean we're going to be STUCK at the wedding until the end! They have to take us back to the hotel earlier'. She complained to us that we got a crappy limo/shuttle company and that we should've gotten one that takes guests back to the hotel whenever they want to leave. It makes me so mad that she would say that people would be 'stuck!' at our wedding. And to tell us that we are doing a disservice to our guests because our transportation option is so limiting. I don't think our shuttle service is limiting at all! It was really expensive to hire a shuttle to take 50 guests! aghhhhh

ignore her! first of all you are doinga great thing by even having the shuttle at all! if she has young children, she will have to make her own plans. don't let her comments ruin this for you. like i said, you are doing a great thing by even having the shuttle to begin with!

it's nice of you to even get a shuttle. if she doesn't want to use it, she doesn't have to. no one is forcing her to.

couldn't agree more! Having the shuttle is an added luxury you are providing your guests and no one should be complaining about the schedule the shuttle runs on. She'll have to figure out an alternative way of getting the children home a little earlier.

My guests are 'stuck' at my wedding til 1 a.m....OH WELL! Providing a shuttle is not something you HAVE to do. I did it as a convenience for my guests...if they don't want to take it, they can drive themselves. Your FSIL can arrange her own transportation then. Some people are so selfish

Thanks for the support ladies! It makes venting feel so good. I feel like it was a nice thing for us to do also! And she even had the balls to tell us to just cough it up and pay for the extra rides. We refused because the 4 of them would be the only ones needing it. I have no idea how I'm going to deal with the FILs for the rest of my life. I just moved past them having us redo our invites for them and now this. Anytime I get the feeling of 'i can't wait for this wedding to be over with' - it's because of them.

I am not providing transportation for my guests or anyone for that matter.. I have guests coming to suffolk from NYC on the LIRR and taking a cab from their..My sibs each have 2-4 kids and all are providing their own transport.. I wouldn't worry, if she wants to be 'unstuck' she can call a cab to the hotel. Ignore the nonsense and concentrate on having a wonderful time.

Trust me when I tell you this: you will get more drama about the shuttle from your guests than almost anything else, which is crazy when it's such a nice thing to do for people!

This, 100%...then tell her to go blow! They are lucky they are getting a shuttle at all, if she doesn't like it she can drive herself!!!
I had this same issue when I hired a school bus shuttle, people were saying they wouldn't want to get on a school bus in their nice clothes...my answer was that they could WALK in their nice clothes if they wanted!

Wow - how incredibly obnoxious!!! You're doing your guests a favor by providing a shuttle - something that is definitely not required nor expected by most guests. If she has a problem with it she can drive - it's that easy.

People are jerks and it sucks even more when it's your family that gives a hard time!!!!!!!!!!!! Why do people feel the need to stress the bride out, aren't they big enough to make an alternative decision for themselves!!!!! So if you don't want to be 'stuck' , them hmmmmmm the next option would be drive yourself!!!!!!!!!!! Why don't people keep their comments to themselves!!! It is something nice that you are doing and there will always be people who complain!!!!!!!!!!

Ask your hotel about the shuttle. My shuttle is able to go back and forth all night for people who might want to leave early.
The way she said it though def wasn't called for.

The hotel only provides one van that holds 14 people so for 50 people to go back and forth would've taken too long. We booked from a limo company on our own.
