FSIL IS A THEIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!! VENT - LONG ****UPDATED****

Yesterday FH gave me $100 because FSIL and FBIL were visiting us from upstate and I was going to take them out to lunch. We wound up going out with FH to lunch so I didnt have to spend the $100.

After lunch I went to have a tire repaired ($15). I was going to pay with the piddly $ I had but I only had $14 and the $100 bill so I broke the $100 since I didnt have enough small bills. That left me with $99. (4 $20's, 2 $5's, 9 1's)

I came home (4:30PM)and gave FSIL $7 to get ice cream for FH, I left my wallet in my purse on my couch, they left and I went to take a nap. I hear them come back around 5PM. 5:30 FH comes home and I get up. In my wallet I should have $92. (4 $20's, 1 $5, 7 $1's)

We go visit FH's Aunt and her kids (one just had a baby boy which is ADORABLE and one is prego with twins) at 6:30PM we take separate cars. 9PM we get gas. I reach into my wallet and just grab a $20 without even thinking to see what else is in there. In my wallet I should have $72 (3 $20's, 1 $5, and 7 $1's)

We get home and FH wants to order South Park Season 2 DVD set. We go to Comedy Central and order them. I leave my wallet on the living room table... we go to bed... FSIL and FBIL go to bed 10 minutes after us...

I get up this morning. 9:30 I was going to get bagels. I check my wallet to make sure I have all my $$$(I always check my wallet to see how much cash I have when I know I am going to pay cash because it would be HORRIBLE if I get up there with a whole bunch of things and I dont have enough $$... its just a habit of mine).

I open my wallet and there is $12!!!!!!!!! I count the $ 3x!!! still no change... $12!!! SHOCKED I say HOLY SH*T Im missing like $50!!! FBIL who was sitting there asked if FH took it before he left this morning. I call FH and he says 'Did you ask FSIL? She has been known to take things in the past!' I say no she is sleeping.

I find extra $$ around the house (not my $60) and get bagels. I come back and FSIL is in the kitchen. I say 'Ive been thinking about all the places Ive been and I have NO IDEA where my $60 is. I dont know what could have happened to it!' As soon as FSIL realizes I am talking about my missing $$ she gets this look of OMG she knows, looks away IMMEDIATELY and starts pretending like she is getting crumbs into a pile on the counter!!!!! GUILTY B*TCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I tell FH what happened. He calls his mother who gave FH FSIL's cell #... he has yet to reach them because they are out of range.

IM FURIOUS!!! I have wracked my brain and there is NO WAY the $$ could have left my wallet by my doing. She isnt going to admit to it. I dont know what to do!!!!!

I hope she develops a guilty conscience and just confesses she took the money.

Wow, mt FSIL had a problem like that with her husband's sister. FSIL and her husband co-signed for his sister's loan for a car, and somehow, they got information on FSIL bank account, ordered checks in her name and was writing checks out of her account! THEN they had they stopped paying their loan and FSIL's bank accounts were frozen! Goes to show you, sometimes you can't even trust family!

Is it at all possible that you dropped it when you reached in at the gas station, or any other time? My little sister is known to fib about things sometimes...when she recently came to stay with me I thought she took some things. I asked her and she SOUNDED guilty, really....then a week later I found the things I was missing. Somehow they'd fallen in a weird spot. (She lives 7 hours away..so she didn't put them there).

I felt terrible, but fortunately I'd only asked her and dropped it when she said she didn't have them.

Moria - I keep thinking about yesterday over and over and over and over. It would be REAL strange if only the $20's fell out of my wallet and the rest stayed in place... just the $20's are missing.

FMIL said it doesnt surprise her, FH said it wouldnt surprise him. I hate to accuse someone when I dont have ALL the information but the only people around my purse were FSIL, FBIL, FH (its his money anyway) and my 11 month old daughter who cant reach the table...

I have a silly question, do you have pets??

I only ask this because we have 2 ferrets one one is loose. He went into my bag and took out stuff and I thought I lost it and went crazy looking for the item. Turns out it was the ferret who took it and hid it behind the dresser.

We found this out because one day we caught him going into my bag grabbing something and then we followed him to where he ran off to hid it. We found quite a few items in his little hideout.

OMG THat's sick !!! Imagine if you left them to babysit !!! (thank God this happened as a warning!!)

Is she your FH's sister? or his brothers wife? Who is closer to her that can confront her ??

27!!!! I am 27. THAT IS SICK! I'm sorry, I know you feel violated. It hurts even more knowing the person. Have you checked to see what else is missing? People just don't steal one thing, if they have a problem, a few things are probably missing.

**UPDATE** - Around 4 I took Emma to see her daddy working at the golf course. I put on the sweatshirt I was wearing the night before when we went out. I get there and I put my keys in the pouch... GUESS WHAT ELSE IS IN THERE... $60 3 $20's rolled folded 4 times and rolled!!!

I nearly fell down. I NEVER put that $ there!!! Im a freak about the way I keep my cash it has to be in my wallet, all facing the same way and in $ value order. I would NEVER roll up $60 and put it in a front pouch of a sweatshirt where it could fall out!

I told FH about it. I told him I put the sweatshirt on and it was ON TOP of the green one on the chair... he said thats interesting because the GREEN one was on top when he left for work!!

He also said that FSIL must have known that I knew it was missing and I assumed it was her that took it, felt guilty and put it back!

I still feel SO violated and will never allow her to be in my home alone again. It s*cks when you have to lock up your valuables when family comes over!!!

ANNA - Yesterday when I went to get my tire repaired I left Emma with FSIL/FBIL!!!!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you should get the FSIL aside at somepoint soon.
and say 'look i saw you take the money, i've been giving you the opportunity the last day or two to confess to it so that maybe there wouldnt be hard feelings, but now i just want my money back one way or the other'...see what she does, maybe that would work

I'm glad you got your money back, but I would still take a good look around to see if anything else walked away. Perfumes, jewelry, DVD's, CD's, etc. Just proves you can't trust anyone!!!

Anna - After this incident... I dont want her in my BP. I know its not going to happen... I know she is going to be only because I dont have proof that she took it... It makes me SOOO mad.
