Hi Girls, so my 30th B-day is coming up soon and I would like to go out and DANCE! I'm looking for a place (not super $$ or trendy) that I could go with friends and dance, preferably to old school or 80s music?! I'd prefer to not go into NYC, but prefer to be on the LI/Queens border. Any ideas? If you have places in NYC thats OK too, b/c I may not be able to find a good place on LI or Queens.

No Queens reccs, but Joshua Tree in the city is great for that! There are a bunch of good bars over there in the Murray Hill area.

I say screw it and go to Jersey. There's a place called The breakfast Club that is pretty cool. In the city there used to be Culture Club til they closed it down. Sooooo mad about that. Club Pyramid has a Fri. night 80's thing but it kinda ******. Webster hall on a Friday night I think main floor still has 80's. I can't think of anywhere on the island. I've only been to Zachery's for the hell of it and its kinda 'eh.

Go to Sounds of Brazil in the city - I LOVEEEEE that place! So much fun!

Yeah I've heard about Joshua Tree.. what kind of music is it, and for those that went/go.. how late does the music start?

Oh they closed down Culture Club???!!!! I never went but always wanted to! Basically I just want a fun laid back place.. seems hard to find!

Culture Club was awesome!! We used to go every weekend. It was laid back people were awesome. sigh I miss it

How about the Sly Fox Inn on Utopia Pkwy - near St. John's They have a dj on Fri & Sat nights starting @ 10pm

I know its in the city but theres a thing called the Awesome 80's Prom...I'm going to do it for my friends bachelorette party next year. Seems like a lot of fun and includes admission into Webster Hall. Awesome 80's Prom
