Here’s a question for you brides. I’m guessing that most of you are saving every penny you can get your hands on for the wedding, right? So with Spring in the air, not much loot in your pockets. What fun stuff can do you do on the weekend to keep yourself entertained without spending a bundle of loot? Surely you have some ideas, please post your ideas and suggestions below.

they always have specials on Mets tickets....we never pay more than like $9/ticket.
I dont know where you guys live and if its difficult for anyone to get to, but the city has a lot of outdoor food/flower/flea markets....theyre always fun to walk around when its nice out.

Re: Fun while saving for wedding...
instead of shopping for clothes i run my errands that i'm too busy to do during the week:
food shopping catch up on laundry/cleaning i go to the gym a lot
actual FUN stuff: FH and i will go to northport or a cute town near the water and have a picnic (b/c eating out is $) we have a fave fondue place that is very $$ so we bought our own little fondue kit on sale for 10 bucks and we buy the stuff for it at the supermarket and wine from our liquor store so instead of 60-70 bucks for wine and fondue it's about 20 bucks (lasts a lot longer too with a huge bottle of wine) and we are in the privacy of our own home which is nice hehe go to the beach and walk around and talk-- can't wait until we have a dog we can take there to run around... we swim a lot in the summer in our pool and we love the beach... one of our fave things to do is go and feed the ducks at a nearby park-- they are hungry! we go through like 3 packages of bread LOL but that's what we do most of the time, either that or just spend time with family/friends!
edited: saw above me someone posted about the city-- SO much fun, the zoo at central park, strawberry fields, street fairs, flea markets, SO much to see!!! good suggestion!
ALSO: on i THINK wednesday's the bronx zoo is free admission

Re: Fun while saving for wedding...
Beach, BBQs, pool, roller blading, take walks (to get lunch from the deli or ice cream)...
OH! you guys can do what FH and I did when he proposed! Drive out to montauk (or any beach for that matter) and have a picnic. We also climbed the light house when we were there which was only like $6 each I think. Yeah, seems expensive, but it is an 'inexpensive activity' that is fun. Yeah gas prices are climbing, but it will be cheaper than a weekend get away where you have to stay at a hotel.

Re: Fun while saving for wedding...
Well, I have a 3 1/2 year old so he keeps me busy.. but I also have to entertain him. We usually go to Disney every year, I've been going every year since I'm 4, (thats 33 years!!) The first time I took my son, he was 6 months old!. Well, we can't go this year because of the wedding. I'm sure my Son won't even notice, he's too young but I want to go to Hersey for a weekend and Seseme Place, Great Adventure maybe go to Montauk. We love the Zoo.

Re: Fun while saving for wedding...
Also, Last summer FH and I went down to the nautical mile in Freeport one night and just walked the entire thing. We stopped for ice cream, but we ate dinner before we went so it was a cheap night. It was nice though to get out and be around activity without having to spend money.
FH and I also like to play mini golf at Eisenhower park. Pretty inexpensive as well. There is also mini golf at Jones beach and they have another game which I can't think of the name now....You have these discs and you have to push them down the other end of the board with a pole....oh well, it'll come to me....

Mini Golf Batting Cages BBQ all the time in the summer get a nice bottle of wine and cold beers. Jones Beach Go into Manhattan FH has family lives in Manhattan we usually go twice a month to spend Saturday night and hang or go bowling. There is so much to do for free in Manhattan I wish we took more advantage of it. FH's Softball games We go out for dinner once a week trying to cut down to twice a month. Hopefully now with the warm weather we can bbq more often.

Re: Fun while saving for wedding...
A couple of things, since FH and I work near one another we brown bag it and then get together for lunch and eat outside or go to the park.
We rent Dvd's vs going to the movies now and one of cooks.
We go to the botanical gardens as it is cheap and so pretty.
We like to go to museums
hang out with friends and order pizza or something cheap
See what free things there are to do in Central park or other parks near our house.
