Has anybody ever set up a fundraiser? I would really like to set something up to raise money for Parkinson's Disease Research, but I really have no idea where to start... I don't have a lot of extra money lying around since I'm getting married soon, so I want to do something that will not be a huge expense, so I was thinking a walk a thon or something.... Anyone have any ideas or how to start this?? TIA!

Re: Fundraiser?
Parkinsons may have something they do already that you can bring to your area. Some of these charities have offices here on the island and you can work w/ them.
If you have a group, fundraising.com offers items you can sell for whatever cause.

Re: Fundraiser?
A few years ago my in laws had a big party light candles party and a portion of all the sales was donated to ALS. We borrowed the chuch basement and ordered one of those 7 ft heroes and sodas. Had a great time and the ALS organization ended up with like $1500.

Re: Fundraiser?
There are services/people who will organize a walk-a-thon for you (at a cost of course). It might be worth some research - they might be able to provide a how-to guide as well.
It will take getting a group of people focused to ask for some in-kind donations (shirts, food, etc.). If you can get a few people to work with you who have some decent connections - it should be fun.
I should add, I'm a fund-raising consultant (but on a larger scale).
