Fundraiser & RH Drama!

Original post by Mmnnng

Ok so this fundraiser is not going as planned! I can't believe what Timber Point is telling me! I have not asked for money back or to change anything except to make this wedding a fundraiser instead....WELL...Ben informed me that if it was not specifcally a 'wedding' that they would only allow me to put half my deposit towards the party and they keep half! CRAZY! Now I am not changing date/time/# of people....NOTHING! So why do they think this is ok?? Just because it is no longer labeled a wedding???? I'm furious! I will keep everyone updated on the final outcome because you have all been so wonderfully supportive!

PS. The future ex moves out on Saturday....I am handling this surprisingly well I must say! Thanks for everything ladies!

that sounds like a bm not trying to lose his commission.. prob gets more commission on a wedding than a reg banquet.. who knows.. but i'd def contact corporate..

That's ridiculous. If that's really set in stone, what about a mock wedding...like TWOY (only your style, no LIW) and still make it a charity benefit.

Ben is a jerk. I would try dealing with someone else. That makes absolutely no sense. Who cares as long as you are paying for the space! Try Neil or even try getting Peter Lessing on the phone! If I had known what a bonehead Ben was to deal with I don't think I would have booked with Lessings no matter how beautiful their RH's are.

PS Sorry you have to deal with everything you are personally and then have to deal with this RH issue too! Hang in there

What does your contract say? I'd say it's lawyer time!

I agree- its definitly lawyer time!!!! Or at least just tell them you will be contacting a lawyer and see what they say.

That makes no sense at all!! What is their reasoning? RHs hold charity events all the time.

How terribly greedy of them! Don't they understand the words fundraiser and charity?? I think if they try to go through with this you should contact the NY Post or Shame on You or something like that.

Great...now you changed your mind and the wedding is back on! And whoops, on the day of the event, you cancelled last minute and made it a fundraiser again!

BTW: they cannot legally do that-you are still having an event and using the place and you have the same guarantee...where in your contract does it specifically say it must be a wedding? You need to threaten legal action ASAP!
