Funny Story about Diamonds

Funny Story about Diamonds

I found this really funny story while looking up a characteristic of one of the diamonds in my e-ring. One of my stones has flourescence. This is when your ring is around blacklight the stone will look white or blue-ish in color. My appraiser says it doesnt affect the quality/value of my ring (its more like a characteristic - can help to identify my ring if ever stolen) It is something that happens naturally, it has nothing to do will flaws or clarity (mine are all very high quality) Although they say if it has VERY strong Flouresence those diamonds are not as desirable. I was reading up on it and all the opinions are different. I think its more about personal choice and whether people like it or not. My appraiser told me not to worry about it because the color mine glows was fine, i think it's pretty cool.

WOW.. i just babbled.. anyway... here is the funny story related to this..

****ALSO attached is a pic of my ring so you get an idea of what I am talking about.

One of my GIA instructors told us a story from when he was still a jeweler doing custom work. He had a wealthy client who frequently had commissioned pieces for his wife. When they split, he wanted to give her a 'divorce present'. He requested an invisible set diamond brooch, with strategically placed fluorescent stones, spelling out what he though of her, knowing that she frequently went out to nightclubs with blacklights... You can imagine what happened. The next time she went to a club, her pin told everyone that she was a... B*TCH.
