Furniture Delivery VENT!!!!(updated w/ good news thanks to my LIW good samaritan)

Ugghh, I am so mad. My new living room and bedroom set were supposed to be delivered 8/6 ( I bought them like 3 weeks ago at Levitz) and I get a letter saying they can't be delivered until 9/10!!!!!!!!!!! Has this happened to anyone else? Can I complain and get a discount or something?

I went to Levitz the other day in Westbury just to look around. I overheard one of the sales guys telling a customer that he can't choose a delivery date and that they are back up like 4 weeks. What I overheard really turned me off..

Maybe they are super backed up?? I'm not sure what you can do? Just wanted to say sorry you are frustrated.

That happened with us and our patio set and DH called and complained and also told them that if it goes on sale in that time then we want a price adjustment and how we were planning to have a bbq and now that is ruined, etc. and magically they were able to get it to us that night. It can't hurt to call and find out their deal. Sometimes it works and sometimes there really is nothing they can do.

Also read the fine print of the contract. Maybe you can cancel your order if they don't deliver by a certain time?? Not sure.

I think this happens with every furniture company!! I don't know anyone that has not had a major problem with at least one furniture store/delivery.

Last year my sister bought a patio set from where ever. They delivered the wrong table. It wasn't an error though - it was because the did not have the one she ordered available and nor would they so they just substituted another completely different table. She used it for the rest of the summer last year and then badgered them until the took it back and gave her a full refund this year!

Furniture companies STINK....I have had problems with Macy's and Seamans. Both were over 2 months late. The thing that annoys me the most is that they are quick to take your money and then jerk you around for the delivery. I did though scream enough that I got the delivery fee waived from Macys! That saved me a bunch of money!

Curly, I too got the delivery charged credited from Fortunoff's.

I don't know if the person who helped me wishes to remain unknown but I MUST say that this board is amazing!!!!!

I was merely venting about my situation and it just so happens that someone from here ended up helping me in a HUGE way!!!!!!! The helpfullness, sincerity and thoughtfullness of some of the ladies on these boards is AMAZING!!!!!!

Let's just say I now will have my furniture by 8/6. THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
