furniture experience- kinda long vent- need advice PLEASE :\

Hello ladies,
I need adviceeeeeee BIG TIME!!!

The other day I was wondering your experiences with furniture stores. Today I went to Farmingdale with fh, to Jennifer Convertible, Raymour and Flannigan...
I liked Raymour and Flannigan better in terms of more of a selection, it was a tad more expensive than Jennifer?
We didnt go to Ashley Furniture yet but have any of you ladies purchased livingroom sets from there? is the quality poor? (does the sofas sink after a yr or two?) All the sets I liked are microfiber- so thats why I was asking- as it sometimes tends to sink...
FH didnt wanna go to BOBS (I have never been there). I have no experience furniture shopping. This will be the first time I will move in with FH.

I searched reviews and each furniture store has negative and positives but some people are saying Ashleys is on the low scale in terms of quality?

Sorry for the longggggggggggg vent lol Pleaseeee provide feedback again ladiess

My mom got her entire set including an entertianment center from them and it's stayed in good condition. Her sofa sinks, but that's bc she's sleeps on it every night. Otherwise the quality is good.

We had a couch from jennifer for like two years. It was a microfiber recliner. We threw it out because pieces of foam were literally falling out of it. I wouldn't buy there again. Our new couches are from raymour and we've had them for a year. It's better quality. We didn't look at ashley at all so I can't help there.

You have to talk to a salesman. They dropped the price because we bought a few items and then used their finance plan. We bought 2 couches, a table and 6 chairs.

If you go with Raymour I'd stay away from the fresno sofa set which is microfiber. The sales man really pitched us on that one and once we got it home the cusions pancaked within 3 mos. It still annoys the hell outta me.

One of the sets that also saw and remember is the VEGAS set...
They said they have a 1 yr warranty and have a 5 yr policy where if you pay insurance? or something and something happens (where it sinks, tears, etc...) they will replace it- is this true? lol

It's like an extra 100 or so for the insurance..

We bought that insurance and haven't used it. It does have stipulations of what they will repair etc..

Do you think they will replace furniture if it sinks after their 1 yr general warranty?

I think you're talking about their protection plan and no I didnt get it. I honustly didnt think I'd have a problem. My brother had bought a microfiber set from Big-lots for $600 bucks and never had a problem with it! Go figure. I wish I would have known better at the time.

My livingroom set is from Ashley and I love it. It still looks brand new and I have had it for about a year. I don't really care for Jennifer, and Bobs sells nice livingroom sets, but I can't really speak for the quality. Raymour and Flannigan has really nice furniture and the quality is good also.I got my bedroom set from there.

check to see if there are wholesale outlets--those are stores that sell to the bigger names, and they have MUCH lower prices!

Bobs makes pretty cheap furniture -- nothing is real wood and the couches will deflate a little. With that being said, my furniture set is from Bobs and we LOVE it! Everyone comments on how comfortable it is and how good it looks. We've had it for six months and it's only deflated a tiny bit.

Ashley makes the same quality furniture -- nothing is real wood, it's all particle board. This really annoys the crap outta FH. With that being said, both of my dressers are from Ashley and I love them. I think they look great and they're huge. They can fit all of my clothes and I don't care that they're not real wood.

I think that once you get to the discount furniture, which is all FH and I could afford after we bought a house, it comes down to the same quality. I think all of these are great starter pieces, but there's a reason they're less expensive. The couches that are really expensive are going to last longer because they're good quality and made with real wood, expensive fabric, etc.

I don't think there is anything wrong with buying a discount set at first -- especially since you're spending money to live together! HTH

I think I saw you there! Did you take a picture of the tan couch at Raymour?

Our large sectional living room couch is from Raymour. We are on it constantly, eating, sleeping, etc. ---it is about a year old and we are so happy with it. We went there on recommendation from a friend who had theirs for a few years. We did 0% financing for a year and paid it off (along with an entertainment center) over a year. I highly recommend that plan.

As for Ashley furniture, my Ashley leather loveseat has been with me from my studio and on to two other apartments. Its in a amazing condition and so easy to clean. I don't sit on it that much now but its in amazing condition.

Sorry I can't give too much negatives but I've been more than happy with both Raymour and Ashley. I definitely recommend Raymour's financing option!
