furniture experience- kinda long vent- need advice PLEASE :\

Original post by blondie24

Hello ladies,
I need adviceeeeeee BIG TIME!!!

The other day I was wondering your experiences with furniture stores. Today I went to Farmingdale with fh, to Jennifer Convertible, Raymour and Flannigan...
I liked Raymour and Flannigan better in terms of more of a selection, it was a tad more expensive than Jennifer?
We didnt go to Ashley Furniture yet but have any of you ladies purchased livingroom sets from there? is the quality poor? (does the sofas sink after a yr or two?) All the sets I liked are microfiber- so thats why I was asking- as it sometimes tends to sink...
FH didnt wanna go to BOBS (I have never been there). I have no experience furniture shopping. This will be the first time I will move in with FH.

I searched reviews and each furniture store has negative and positives but some people are saying Ashleys is on the low scale in terms of quality?

Sorry for the longggggggggggg vent lol Pleaseeee provide feedback again ladiess

I have not bought new furniture yet..but here is my experience:

I have a sofa and loveseat from Raymour and Flannigan that I bought like 15 years ago...it is leather and they are both firm. If the sofa didnt have a tear in the cushion where it wore, it still would be usable....yeah looking to replace.

I have a kitchen table set...I think they are called Farmer's table (white legs, natural wood top) that I bought aroud the same time from R&F, however it is Ashley Furniture..they used to sell it at R&F...it has been taken apart and put together and moved to new places like 5 times...it is still in great shape, very sturdy.

Just read the above post from another lady here...my table from Ashley Furniture is real wood, so maybe not the same place since I bought mine at R&F.

Hi, If you are planning on buying any furniture from Raymore & Flanigan Please.....make sure that the furniture is NOT shipped from the Queens Warehouse.

I have been in a living nightmare since I bought a sleeper sofa couch in August. Unfortunately for me, I did not realize it until 5 days after the couch was in my brand NEW apartment that the couch was infested with fleas.

I know it's disgusting, but...they were everywhere. Since I had just moved in, I can't tell you the mess that was created.

Please, for your sake - just check out the warehouse that they will be shipping it from.

Our living room set is from Bob's and the cushions have started to get soft. THen again we are always on the couches. The frames are strong and sturdy, so we might invest in having my stepdad reupholster the cushions.

Also, my mom has a sofa bed from Jennifer and it seems to be fine. She has had it for 3 years now and get used often. Good luck!!

My livingroom set is from Ashley and I get tons of compliments on it. It's very comfortable. As for quality, I ahve to be honest, I have no idea. I really only sit in there when we have company...which isnt very often...so it hasnt had a chance to sink in or anything

My advice- make FH go to BOBs. We are closing on our coop next month and have been furniture shopping (we need everything). My FH was reluctant to walk into BOBs but it was so much more our style and so much less expensive then Raymour.

Once we get a house in a few years we will get new furniture anyway.!

when i moved into my apt a few years ago i bought a couch from jennifer. the couch was fine, but the service was horrible. Its a long story, but I will never buy anything from them again.

FH has been liking the Ashley furniture the most and is gearing towards that... Is there a big difference in quality with Raymour and Ashley?

We just recently got a bedroom set from Raymour & Flanigan. In the store, they were great, but once they came to deliver the furniture, they were AWFUL. They put holes in my walls, they refused to listen to what I or my FMIL had to say and they told us they just couldn't get the furniture up and they'd have to return it. Well, when they finally got off their high horses and took our advice, they got the furniture up in one shot and fit it perfectly into the room. But the furniture is GORGEOUS!
