when the time comes, we plan to buy from NC. there are several girls on here that have had great experiences w/ different companies (do a search).
although you can purchase via phone, i think we might end up taking a trip down there. it is AMAZING how much $$$ you save (reduced prices and no tax). i went to a few high end stores recently, found out the manufacturers then called a few NC stores and was shocked at the price difference.

JC Penney's was great when I ordered my mattress there.
I ordered my dining room set from FLS (Furniture Land South) in NC and it was a complete disaster, made worst by the fact that we could not just walk in to the store and complain, we needed to play phone tag. It took over 6 months and 3 deliveries for me to get a china cabinet with doors that closed. While this could happen with any furniture company, it defintely would have been easier to deal with in person.

We're very happy with our Italian Natuzzi microfiber furniture (sofa, loveseat, chair and ottoman) in our living room, we got wood tables and bookcases from Target (the Dolce collection).
Our dining room set is Calligaris also from Italy and we love it!
We got both the Natuzzi and Calligaris furniture from 110 Home Furnishings in Farmindale.
Our den sofa and loveseat are from the Seaman's clearence center, and we've had them over a year and they still look brand new.
Here are pictures of our dining room table and chair and our living room sofa. Hope this helps!

Sory, not a positive story. It's almost April, I order my furniture in November and Levitz has delivered it damaged 5, yes 5~five~times. We are fighting with them now to give us half our money back and we will live with a piece of broken mirror and a 6 inch gouge on the table top...

JCPenney is great though! My mother has never had problem with them and has made a few seperate purchases.

We got our couch from Macy's. It came on time, no problems at all.
Fortunoff was a different story...8 weeks turned into 5 months..but then they gave us free shipping and 20% off so we saved a good deal of money, and because we're planning the wedding, it was worth it to save the $400! Because een though waiting stank, now we have the same furniture for a LOT cheaper!
