Furniture Stores

Fiance and I were poor grad students and have had Ikea furniture for the time we've lived on our own.

We plan to upgrade.

Can you recommend some furniture stores in LI that are reasonably priced with decent quality?

Re: Furniture Stores

DH and I just bought a bedroom set from Raymour & Flanigan. It gets delivered on Friday so I'll let you know what I think.

Right now our apartment is full of hand me downs and put-it-together-yourself furniture. I am so excited to have something delivered that DH doesn't have to put together!

I wanted to get furniture from home decorators on line, but do you have to put it together? Is it good quality? The prices look great.

Re: Furniture Stores

I know you asked about store on LI but if you can make the time, try to visit a Bob's Furniture store. I don't know if you've ever seen their corny commercials, but their prices are really great. Check out their site:
www.mybobs.com
We live in an apt. and wanted nice furniture but without spending an arm and a leg b/c we figured we'd do that when we buy a house. So we went Bob's and bought couches and dining room furniture their. We also got our mattress, the Tempurpedic knockoff which is really comfy to sleep on...

how our lives are similar! I graduated, but FH is still a grad student.... and I'm sitting on my IKEA couch while typing this.

Depends what your style is, of course.... If it's more traditional, maybe crate and barrel or pottery barn. If you're more modern (like we are), westelm (in brooklyn), which is a pottery barn off-shoot. Especially with westelm, if you check their sale furntiture, you can get really good stuff at reasonable prices.

There is a store called The Place in Farmingdale that has a huge selection for every room in your house and their prices aren't bad either. HTH
