Furnitureland South in NC

i have been in contact via phone and email w/ an associate from furnitureland south regarding the purchase of various furniture pieces. their prices are GREAT, however i was surprised to hear that they charge sales tax. i thought one of the reasons why people buy furniture from NC was to avoid the tax (in addition to the reduced prices). anyway, i called black's furniture (another dealer in NC)today inquiring about an item and was pleasantly surprised when she said they do NOT charge sales tax. when i asked why as furnitureland south does she went on to tell me that they (FLS) were hit w/ a $10m lawsuit for selling items off trucks. she said they are trying to recoup the loss by charging sales tax. she also mentioned that by the end of the year or by next (i forget) that all furniture companies in NC will be required by law to charge sales tax.

not sure if this is really true (i am going to do a search), but just thought i would advise all of you looking to purchase in NC.

I ordered my dining room furniture from Blacks and I had a great experience w/ them. My order actually came in early!!!
