Fussy during feedings

Fussy during feedings

For the last couple of days Kiera has been very fussy during her cereal & fruit feedings. She'll take the food without a problem but she cries during the feeding. She's not turning her head away at all and not hitting the spoon or the bowl. But she'll take a spoonful and then cry.

At first I thought that she might be unhappy about having cereal and fruits separate. But then tonight even after I combined the 2 she cried. Is this a result of teething? She is definitely going through a rough teething stage. It looks like her top tooth is trying to come in. I'm wondering if that's making her uncomfortable during spoon-fed meals? Or could it be something else?

I'm going to try again tomorrow to start off the meal with just combining the cereal and the fruit and see if that works. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Re: Fussy during feedings

I know the only time that Aidan does this, it is because he wants his bottle first. The first time I realized he actually had a preference I couldn't believe he was starting to get his own little preferences as opposed to just eating whats given to him! LOL He started doing that around 8 months. After the bottle he would have his cereal no problem.

HTH

I wouldn't think the food would cause her gums discomfort, but you never know. Do you heat it?

The fruits are room temp. The cereal starts out a little warmer then room temp.

Today we actually mixed in the bananas and oatmeal from the start of the feeding and she took it without any problems. We're going to try it again that way tonight and I'll see how she does. If that's not working I'll try giving her the bottle first. Thanks for the suggestion!
