FYI- For anyone sending invites out of the country...
So, I went to the P.O. today to get my stamps and I have about 10 invites that have to go out of the country. I didn't realize this (but it makes sense), but you can't put U.S. postage on the rsvp's. So what you have to do is purchase an 'international voucher' and enclose it w/ your rsvp's. The person then takes it to the P.O. and they put the postage on it w/o charging the person.
I was a little annoyed b/c I feel like FH's people are not even going to bother sending them back after all that.

Well I have 12 international invites and I'm not going to that trouble. The Canadians will know what to do and we already know that they are coming but for the Italians my mom is writing a note stating that they should just call with their RSVP. It would take to long for it to go and then come back.

Yeah, you would think being out of the country, people would know if they were coming or not, esp. w/ a little over 3 months left!! Nope, not my honey's people!! Maybe I shouldn't go through all that and just give a call, would make my life much easier!

Send them the complete invitation and put a note on it saying that due to possible international mailing problems to give you a call to RSVP. Remember that not all mail services are like those in US. Some of those invitations may never make it to their desinations, may be opened because people think there may be money in there or could be ripped. Either way call them to tell them that the invitation has been sent and call them in a few weeks for their RSVP.

i actually had my aunt buy the airmail stamps of the country I needed (Ireland) since she lives there.... she then mailed them to me and so i was able to put them on the RSVP envelope for them...this helped a lot with my return rate.
there were a handful of invites (like 3 from countries where I only had one invite going there... the people there just mailed it back on their own....)
a lot of people get international responses for invites through phone or e-mail , so i wouldn't stress yourself out with the international vouchers... even if they are going to mail them back, i don't think people will be that cheap not to stick a stamp on it themselves.

You'd be surprised at how cheap people are... I have the opposite situation..live out of the country and sent half of the invites to the US. Well the plan was for my mom to send me stamps for the RSVPs coming from the US but somehow that got lost in the mail (my dad put it int he mailbox at the postoffice it but she doesn't think she even wrote the address on, duh) so I never got them and since I had to get my invites out asap I sent them without stamps...well apparently quite a few people mentioned it to my mom that there's no stamp. Geez..I thought people would have been a bit more understanding.

luckily I only have 5 invites going out of the country to my mom's side.....I'm glad you posted this, b/c I had already bought extra airmail stamps for the RSVP's....I can't believe it didn't occur to me that it wouldn't be accepted since they're US stamps!! duh!!! thanks!

Me too. I just put US postage on them anyway even though I knew they couldn't use it. They ended up sending them back in an airmail envelope anyway.

As donegal419 had her Aunt mail her stamps from Ireland, on my father's last trip to Ireland he picked up stamps for me. My Ireland/England invitations are out and I'm getting a lot back due to the stamps being on them - but if you can't get the stamps I wouldn't worry about it.

I didnt change the postage.. I left the regular US stamps on the return envelope because I know that none would send it back anyway Maybe call your family and tell them to not even bother returning it, to just call you if theyre going to come... I know it sounds a bit tacky, but will they honestly send them back?
