Garden City Hotel??

Hi, i am considering the garden city hotel for a venue. i have heard good things but have never been to a wedding there myself. for those who have been, what did you think of the cocktail hour? they do not initially offer the amount of food one usually expects at a LI catering hall so i was wondering if it seemed like a small cocktail hour?how was the food in general? for those who have booked, were you able to negotiate at all? have any add-ons throw in? please message me privately if you don't want to share that info publicly. many thanks.

Garden City Hotel??

I would wait it out for now. My best friend's boyfriend was the beverage manager there until recently because they were bought by a new company and they got rid of his job. I can only imagine that with new owners come new menus, chefs, etc, so I'd go see who the new owners are and what they are offering, but not necessarily assume past affairs are an indication of future affairs.

Garden City Hotel??

We considered it because its such a beautiful hotel and people have raved about the weddings they have attended there. In the end, we decided it was just too expensive and that we would be able to find much better value for our money elsewhere. We did consider staying there as our bridal night hotel, but went for the Viana instead. I still might have a bridesmaid tea there or something.

Re: Garden City Hotel??

thank you both for your responses. sfg2, you are right about the change in ownership. they told us that during out meeting. when i had gone to see the space when my sister was looking for her wedding years ago, there was a banquet mgr that was there for years and he is no longer there. they also mentioned at our meeting that there will be a new chef and that we can go with the old menu or wait for the new. not sure what to think.
