Garter and Bo-K toss w/poll

I am not sure if we're having the garter/bo-k toss.
There are a few single people that we'll have at the wedding but who knows if they will actually get up there.

How many of you are doing this?

Very few single people will be at our wedding. FH just went to a wedding a few weeks ago. They insisted on doing the garter toss even though there were no single men. They dragged FH up there (which kind of annoyed me because we were engaged before them and they were insisting FH is 'single') and the ring bearer and a cousin in a wheelchair. Since FH was the tallest he was going to catch it right? No it hit the cousin in the head, he refused to pick it up and the ring bearer ran away. FH was left standing in the middle all by himself with the garter on the floor. He picked it up and gave it to a screaming child. I DO NOT want that happening at my wedding.

We're doing it, but we're not going to have the garter put back on to whoever catches the bouquet. I don't like that. Of course, FH & I are the first of any of our friends to be married or even engaged, so we have lots of single people on our guest list. We're also considering have the bouquet & garter represent good luck. I've read that traditionally, a bride on her wedding day was considered to have lots of luck. We thought maybe we could use the tossing items as us sharing our luck. Doing it that way, you could include married & unmarried people.

not doing it, I always feel like you have to stop dancing for these things and it kinda cuts intot he party, I never found it fun, so we decided not to do it.. but I def. don't think there is anything wrong with doing it!

As a single person, I always hated the garter and bo-k toss, so I figure, why do it to my friends?

We only did the bok toss-I would say 7 people got up-but I didnt care...I know 2 of them REALLY wanted to catch it so I had to do it

We are doing both. I just think it is a tradition that most people look forward to doing.

There will only be 1 single girl @ our wedding and 1 single guy - who is gay ....soooooo I don't think it will work out. I was thinking of making a 'bo-k' of lotto tickets so I can throw it to everyone, but I haven't decided yet.

We did it, but looking back if I could do it all again, I wouldnt have wasted the time. We had to stop dancing to do it and it really wasnt worth it.

We didn't do it and I am so glad. I did not want to clear the dance floor than pull teeth to get 'singles' up there. Not worth it IMO.

I hated it when I was single especially as I got older, all my younger cousins were married & I was still single at 30 (not that it's old but everyone in my family got married young so to my family I'm kind of old to be getting married now-whatever)
Anyway, we're not doing it. My FH wants to, he says I'm no fun, but he doesn't understand it's imbarrising when everyones pulling you out of your chair because your one of the few single girls there.
It is fun but it's not for us.

We aren't doing it. We feel once you reach a 'certain age' (we are both in our mid 30's) your single friends really don't want to be pointed out. Maybe we would do it if we were both 20, but now, no.

Lots of people look forward to this., i was at a wedding where the garter and bok toss was not done...and everyone was like oh man!

As of right now we aren't planning to do either. We don't have very many single people attending the wedding and I personally can't see my sister (who is 49) getting up to catch the bouquet. We may give the tossing bouquet to FH's stepmother, because she has been good to us.

I was thinking there would be 6 total single people. But then I realized there will be a lot more than I thought, once I realized my friends and siblings aren't the only 'single' people. There are more than a few divorcees out there. FH and I were talking about attaching a prize or gift card to the Garter/bo-k to make it more appealing!

I'm the same way, I love the tradition just not sure I want to put my friends through this. Not all are single, and I hated to get up there when I was.

We're definitely not doing the garter toss, but FH is pretty adamant about having the bouquet toss (he says it's tradition). The problem is collectively, we have about 4 single girlfriends, and I know that none of them are thrilled with the whole bo-k toss concept. We'll see!
