Garter and Bouquet toss

Over the past several weddings i have been to, they have not had the garter of bouquet tosses. Do you think those two aspects of the reception are out dated? I personally would love to keep those two traditions in. What are your thoughts??????

I'm keeping the garter and bouquet toss. I don't want to regret not having it later on.

I didnt do either. I personally think it depends on the ages of the single guests. I had a bunch of single girls over 35, and I didnt want to put them through that (having been through it myself many times). My theory is that its cute when you are in your 20's, humiliating when you are in your 30s and 40s JMO

We are not doing it- we have only 3 or 4 single girls and we are having an anniversary dance instead and I will give my toss bok to the longest married couple- but that is us-

It's your wedding so you can do them if you want.

My FH really wants to do these for some reason, but I don't simply because most of our single friends and relatives are over 30 and it's embarassing for them (as one of my friends said, it makes them look desparate), and I don't blame them. We have a total of 2 adult females under 30 and 4 teenage girls who might like the bouquet toss, and NO men under 30/teenagers...I argue that it's not a big enough group for a bouquet toss or garter...I still have a lot of convincing left to do!

We didn't do either.. but it's really up to you.
Our reasons were that all his friends are married and most of mine were too!

I'm not doing it b/c 1) I hate it and 2) I'm not having that many single people at the wedding.

My FSIL just got married in May and did it b/c that was what she wanted.

Do what you want. It's your day.

I DID IT ON MY WEDDING AND 2 OF THE 3 WEDDINGS WE WENT TOO DID IT. i think its really up to you, i just really likes the tradtion and wanted to do it

We are doing it.... I am keeping all the 'traditional' aspects in and making it modern with other details (monogram topper, flowers, non-matching BM's, etc.)

Plus we're young, we're only the second couple out of both our groups of friends to get married, so I think everyone would have fun with it.

Being that i'm one of the last of the single people I know to get married, i'm gonna have a wish toss. ALL women are to get up, married and single, and make a wish when i toss the bouquet and the one that catches it gets their wish....

I did it only because I think it's fun.

I decided not to as I feel like it stops the dancing and takes time away from the party. Although Ive seen it done at a ton of weddings and its always been fine.

I was planning on just doing the bouquet and not the garter, but now that I think of it I will barely have any single friends. Maybe I should think about it.
