Garter and Bouquet toss

Over the past several weddings i have been to, they have not had the garter of bouquet tosses. Do you think those two aspects of the reception are out dated? I personally would love to keep those two traditions in. What are your thoughts??????

All the weddings we've gone to in the past 2 years didn't have it. Personally I think it can be really uncomfortable for people who are single. Who wants to be paraded out onto a dance floor as 'single' and then have some stranger put a garter on you. Ughh. When I was single, I would always leave the room if it were coming up. Seems old and not in the good way.

But that's my opin and at the end of the day, if it is something you love, then who cares what others think and go for it. It is your day.

Im doing it. We are younger tho and the first in our group of friends to get married. It was just a tradition i wanted to do b/c i kinow our friends would have fun with it and not get embarrassed. If women choose not to go onto the floor thats fine too!

We are doing it! Its fun and we are having a young crowd...so it should be good!!

we didn't do either. it was weird bc it was like all related family, didn't have lots of singles, and we also knew from ppl saying stuff here and there that the single girls dreaded that part. i never found it fun myself either. but it just depends on what you like! if you have lots of singles and think they'll enjoy it, go for it.

This was one of the most fun and hilarious parts of our wonderful night...if you want to do it..go ahead!! Have fun..you won't regret it! Good luck!! It also involves all of your guests...whether they are participating or just cheering along..FUN FUN FUN....isn't that what everyone wants at their wedding...for everyone to have a blast! Good luck!

i absolutely kept them in...and honestly, i've only been to maybe TWO weddings that didn't do it.. do what u want! i did it a little differently...dh threw my garter & i threw my bo-k...but then the guy who caught the garter danced with me while the girl who caught my flowers danced with dh... it was cute & a little different...we danced to a fun upbeat frank sinatra song & by the end dh was dancing with his buddy lol while i danced with one of my girls...

I say if you have a decent amount of single people ging to the wedding then to do it. The only reason we didnt do it was because there were not alot of single people.

I personally HATE it - so of course we didn't do it.

Prob b/c I have seen time and time again so much inappropriate stuff going on I find it quite disrespectful -esp when kids are involved and go up there and don't understand.

Instead I had a couples dance at the end of the night and the DJ would announce a count down for every year together you would remain on the dance floor who ever didn't make that year mentioned had to leave. The couple that was married the longest last one standing I gave my BOK to the Lady It happened to be my In laws I L VED the reward So did everyone else.
