Last night I'm telling FH that I started making the song list for the DJ because I feel like I might forget songs I like, by the time we actually sit down with him. I tell FH that I can't think of a song for the garter toss. FH was like well I don't know if I want to do it! At first I was a little annoyed but then I thought about it. If he doesn't want to do it fine. To tell you the truth, a part of me would love to skip it.
Would it be bad if we skipped it? I was thinking if we skipped it, I would give the bouquet to my Grandma instead.
What do you girls think of that? If we did do that, would we have to have the DJ announce us giving the bouquet to my grandma?

Re: Garter Toss
It really depends on what you guys are comfortable with! I have also heard people giving the bouquet and a special dance to the couple at the wedding that have been married the longest. (usually ends up being grandparents anyway!) Good Luck!

Re: Garter Toss
We are NOT doing a garter toss. But I will still have a throwaway bo-k. We will either give it to the Anniversary Dance 'winner' or I will just toss it on the steps of the Church, Italy style.

Re: Garter Toss
yeah I hear ya, we're not doing most of the traditional things and garter is one of them, gives us more time dance.
guess it depends on what you feel comfortable. Bottom line is, it's your wedding do what you want.

Re: Garter Toss
Thanks girls for replying!
I really think I'm going to give it to my Grandma. In a way its sweet but in another way its funny. I'll tell you why.
My Grandpa has been gone for 24 years and in that time my Grandma has had boyfriends(she calls them friends). Well she currently has a bf and he treats her well. She has a good time with him. The other day she said she wasn't going to marry him. Mind you, she's never married anyone since my Grandpa. So I think giving her the bouquet would be like 'Look Grandma you're the next to get married!' My Grandma is the life of the party. All my friends love her and are amazed that at the age of 86 she looks like she is in her late 60s. She is always going places. I often tell her she has a better social life than me! So yeah, I think we will give the bouquet to her!
Thanks again!

I am not doing the garter or flower toss. I like the idea of giving the bouquet to your grandma. I think it would be a good idea to announce it!

Now that I am thinking about it, my parent's 34th wedding anniversary is the day after my wedding (June 26, 1977!),,,,I might give the bo-k to mom!

Re: Garter Toss
I am definitely NOT doing the bouquet/garter thing. We are going to do an 'Anniversary dance' instead.

Re: Garter Toss
I've been to a ton of weddings that didn't do the garter toss! It's not a big deal!
