Are you doing a garter toss? And if your not...would you still toss your boquet? I wasnt planning to do the whole traditional garter thing but my florist gives me an extra bo-k so I thought..why not just toss the think and let some lady do home with some pretty flowers!! Thoughts?

Re: Garter/bo-k toss
IMO, if you just do the bo-k toss people will notice that you didn't do the garter toss, but that's up to you if you care i am doing both, but i know plenty of girls on here are doing a bo-k toss only!! do what YOU feel comfortable with.

Re: Garter/bo-k toss
I dont mind tossing the Bo-k...but the whole idea of FH removing my garter infront of the 'church folk' makes me cringe. Im still thinking of something different to do, maybe the anniversary dance...

Re: Garter/bo-k toss
my florist gave me a throw away bo-k. i know alot of forists do that, and would find it unusual if they florist actually expected u to give away ur bo-k.
i kept my bo-k. i still have it!
and yes, i did do the bo-k and garter too and the garter dressing...

Not doing either, but FYI...the bouquet you toss is usually not your own. the florist provides a small, simple 'throw-away' bouquet (ETA: oops, I see the original poster made this point already). I think I'm giving the extra bouquet to my grandmother. We're either doing the anniversary dance or honoring them ...they'll be coming up on 60 years marriage.

What you can do with the extra bo-k is to ask all the married couples to stand. Then announce those couples who have been married less than a year congratulations and please sit down, then do 5 yrs or less, 10 yrs or less until you have one couple standing who is the couple that has been married the longest time. Present the wife with the extra bo-k and tell them that you wish that your marriage lasts as long as theirs.

I am doing both the garter toss and bok toss. My florist is providing me with an extra bok just to toss. I think the tossings are fun

Re: Garter/bo-k toss
neither..... my friends are too old for a bo-k toss... most are married. I've seen some garter tosses go VERY wrong, thanks to alcohol mixed with less than proper guys....

Re: Garter/bo-k toss
I am NOT doing a garter toss. I am doing a bouquet toss.
I am also keeping my bouquet - I'm getting a throwaway bouquet from the florist. Not many people toss their actual bouquets - I think mine will be way too heavy!

Re: Garter/bo-k toss
We're doing both with a slight twist. We're goig to make it stand for 'luck' instead of 'next to get married' so everyone can participate. We're also not going to make the catcher of the garter interact with the bouquet catcher.
I don't think anyone would notice if you did one & not the other.
We're definitely not doing the garter toss, and the jury's still out on the bouquet toss. FH and I don't have too many single female friends, and I know the ones that are single would rather not do the bouquet toss.

I love your ideas... I totally agree with the way you're doing it!!! I don't want whoever catched the bouquet and the garter to be embarrassed over it. Also I like that everybody can participate. I definitely want to do both bouquet and garter toss!

Re: Garter/bo-k toss
if you do not want to toss it, you could give it to the couple who are married the longest. basically, you need to invite all the married couples to dance, the mc will then tell the couples who are married two years and below to leave the floor... and it goes on until you only have one couple left.

Re: Garter/bo-k toss
As much as I am going to looovve my bouquet I am going to do the bouquet and garter toss. FH is a big Pittsburgh Penguins fan and I am getting a Penguins garter made.

Re: Garter/bo-k toss
We're doing both the bo-k toss and garter toss, just because my FH picked out songs and he was soo proud that he did this lol
