Ok FH embarasses pretty easily and he really did not want to do the whole garter removal thing. Has anyone else not done this?? Is it weird to change it up?? I don't exactly know what i would change it to, need to get some ideas??

We aren't doing the garter toss either. I don't really know how you can change it though... would love to hear some ideas.

Re: Garter/Boquet toss
I have read some ideas of just having fh throw a book with numbers to 'adult' stores in it, or something like that. I have also read where people don't do either and just have all the married couples come on the floor, and the couple married the longest gets the boquet and garder (without the whole removal show).
I need more ideas!!

Not doing the garter toss either. Doing a dance for the longest married couple getting the large asst. flowers, not like a throw away.

I like that idea! My fh is so into doing everything and I am not! I don't mind the whole thing with him taking the garter off me I have a problem with throwing the flowers. I'll end up breaking something or hurting myself or someone there! lol

We aren't going to do this either. I just don't know what to do in it's place.
Have you heard of the newlywed game? The bride and groom sit back to back and someone asks them questions about each other and they have to raise her shoe or his shoe to answer. I’ve seen it on 4 Weddings.

Saw it, I was not really wild about it. I'm not really crazy about games at a wedding but that's just me.

We aren't doing this either. We will do an anniversary dance where the couple married the longest is honored. I will get a mini bouquet to give.

I didnt do the bouquet toss or the garter toss and no one missed it. It left more time for dancing.

We're not doing either toss. I think they're embarassing and I'd rather just dance the whole night with everyone!

Re: Garter/Boquet toss
We didn't do the bouquet or garter toss...instead we did the anniversary dance. The DJ asked all married couples to the dance floor and slowly asked them to leave based on how many years they were married. We gave my throw away bouquet and a bottle of wine to the couple that was married the longest (my aunt and uncle were married 50 years)! Everyone loved it and said it was very thoughtful and sentimental.

Exactly this. Our last name is Penfold so we gave them Penfold Wine. My great aunt and uncle were married 62 years! They got married at 16!!! I wrote a little note and put it in the bag that said 'you both are our inspiration'
My favorite part was when the Dj said 'the couple that has been married less than 24 hours' awww

Re: Garter/Boquet toss
A friend of mine just did the bouquet toss, not the garter toss. I personally felt that was a bit odd because every one was expecting the garter next and it never happened haha.... but it's your wedding, do whatever you'd like to do/feel comfortable with!

Re: Garter/Boquet toss
At a friend's wedding last fall, she had the bouquet toss but not the garter toss. FH embarresses easily, too, and I've always dreaded the idea of him looking up my gown in front of friends, family and younger people. I've always thought it was in such bad taste to add this to weddings, but that's just my opinion.

Re: Garter/Boquet toss
There is no rule that you have to do it. I like the anniversary dance that the other posters suggested. I'm having the bouquet and garter toss b/c I'm old fashion LOL
