We're having a shower for my daughter (women only). Her FMIL has a family friend (he's around 30) He knows my daughter and WANTS to come to the shower!! What do you think? He's a nice guy, funny etc. I'm not sure, but I don't know what to do or say. Thanks for any advice.
EDIT: He's not actually a friend of my daughters. He's her FMILs friend. He knows my daughter and he loves her and always comes to her house when FIL are at her house. My daughter doesn't care if he comes.

I have plenty of guy friends that I'm close to -- gay or straight, they weren't invited. A gay friend wouldn't get preferential treatment from me just because he's gay.
I'd say 'Sorry, women only!' My brothers and father didn't get to come - why a friend just b/c he's gay?

I don't know....my gay guy friend is more like a best girl friend to me then anyone!! He's fabulous and I wouldn't want him to miss anything! Especially since he wants to be there!
Straight guys are usually not so interested in this stuff, so I do give special treatment to my gay man!

If he wants to come. Let him. I think most guys don't want to come and that's why it's traditionally all women. Hey it's one more gift!

i say if she wants him to come, let him come. my cousin had her male best friend as one of her 'bridesmen' and he attended the shower and bachelorette party lol. it was fun!

actually I was tossed with this also ~ I have a friend at work and we are very close and I so wanted to invite him and I think he was upset that he was not invited but he knew it was an all women thing.... he actually bought me something off my registry for my bday - combo birthday - bridal shower gift...this is a toughy!

I have like seven gay guy friends and I invite them to ALL women only parties!!! They were invited to my baby shower and they are invited to the bridal shower AND the bachelorette party!!! GAY MEN ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Godfather is Gay. I am VERY CLOSE to him. He was Not at my shower. Although I would of Loved for him to be there and he did get me a gift so I can open and wrote Aunt Mark....
I would say it's up to the Bride. If someone asked me if I would like to invite my Uncle or I would of said Yes. But then again that is my Godfather. Not a friend of my FMIL.

I agree that it is up to your daughter. I have a bunch of gay friends and I would be thrilled if they were at my shower. I've even put some of them on the invite list for the bachlorette party!
