GEICO Question

Does anyone work for Geico here? I was looking on their website and wondering about applying, but before I did I figured i would see about feedback from present or past employees.

Has anyone worked for them or currently work for them?
Thanks,
Scott

I applyed there. Went for 2 interviews and they never called me back didn't even send me a letter that I wasn't hired. When I called I was hung up on. Very unprofessional!

I doubt this happens very often--if at all--with very many companies...???

Scott, DH's friend works for Geico...He started as a phone agent in Garden City (I could be wrong about the location...???) Anyway...He worked his way up, didn't take very long...And Geico actually just relocated him to another state. Paid for all his moving expenses and offered him a very promising spot...So, needless to say, he's had a very positive Geico experience.

Babe I do not lie! I was pissed off with them And what made it even worse was when I called and they hung up on me. I went for an interview for Customer service and they made me sit down and study 4 or 5 scripts then the lady Nellie called me and I had to try to sell her products. I didn't understand why for a customer service job I need to to sell crap when they also had openings for a sales position. Again I didn't make this up. Its fine if I sucked and they didnt want me but at least let me know.

Was not accusing you of lying. Was just stating that I doubted if ANY company called or sent out letters to people they weren't going to hire, telling them that they weren't going to hire them.

Re: GEICO Question

Most companies dont send out letters or call you if you got the job or not....I applied at one company, went on the first interview and then the call back interview, and never heard from them after that. I swear i thought I had the job...It went so well. We after calling the HR lady like 5 times and leaving messages, but never getting a call back....I got in touch with her to find out I didnt get the job because they merged it with another position and made it a managers position....Oh well...To make matters worse, some guy from my company got the job....

Most companies that I have interviewed at and/or worked for do send a rejection letter if they interview you and you are not hired.

Scott- you won't find anyone who works for Gieco on here during work hours... they have VERY STRICT internet rules over there - almost every site is blocked. They are not allowed to do anything personal on work hours... phone calls and emails included! I have a few friends that work there and it is very strict.
BUT
My friends do love working there. They have all been there for at least 4-5 years.

I'm sure you wouldn't have to accept a transfer...(If they even offered one...?? Not sure how that works...)

You are compensated for your training. I know that much.

What kind of spot are you looking for?

I think maybe some retail or direct customer related businesses may send rejection letters. But I've never worked (or interviewed) for any place like that...So I've never gotten any.

Re: GEICO Question

HR HAT ON NOW:

'While rejection letters are not required, it is a 'best practice' to send rejection letters for the following reasons:

1. all resumes sent to a company should be acknowledged- including unsolicited resumes. The resumes also need to be kept on file for 1 year. By sending the letter, the company is basically telling the applicant that they are following this guideline.

2. brand image is very important. I promise you that almost every big company sends a 'no thank you' letter. This is to keep people happy and purchasing products from the company.
