GET 2 KNOW U- DAILY TOP 5!!! TV Shows
Okay, I'm the worst. I missed yesterday's daily top 5. So it's semi-daily. I'm hallucinating from all the eggs and sausage, and have no idea what i'm doing from one minute to the next. To make up for yesterday, I'm doing two!! If two are too many, pick one!
What are your favorite TV shows of all time??
This is hard. I remember when I was young, I LIVED for the Facts of Life. I took the good, AND the bad. And this is where George Clooney was born, so this is always sacred ground for me.
However, I watched it again recently. It was completely unwatchable. What happened to the days when Jo was my hero, and Blair was all ragging on Jo for her 'flare' jeans, before they got busted out at the bar by the cops?? And Natalie's lightning bold fell off her hat, and that was the funniest thing EVER? And Tootie was all self conscious about her- toots??
So I guess it's not your favorite of all time, really, but your favorites of all time that you can still watch over and over today.
Mine:
1. Seinfeld. I know every word of every episode. It's so sad how much I quote this show, like I actually know these people from my life and these are conversations we've had. Just the most pathetic thing ever.
2. Daily Show / Colbert Report. I include them as one, because I watch them one after the other, and so to me, it's one show. I think these are the smartest shows on television, and the reality that they deliver with their humor is unparalleled to anything seen on network news. Their use of real news clips to articulate points is unbelieveable, and I think they are necessary shows in our political world. These shows would definitely be number 1, but Seinfeld had to be #1, because I quote it daily. that was my criteria.
3. Will and Grace. Two words- Karen and Jack. I LOVE this show, despite Grace, who is the most annoying person ever, can't deliver a line without laughing, and has some nerve making 'overeating' jokes when you can see every bone in her body. That's just wrong. But one of the funniest shows of all time.
4. 60 Minutes. I love it so much I can barely watch it. I get so angry after the show, that FH runs and hides. Should it be on my list if I can barely watch it? I don't know. I love Meet The Press, too, but can hardly stomach that one, either.
5. Survivor / Big Brother / The Biggest Loser. I know. I am a bottom feeder of reality. Was it Dani777 who said she can't stand reality TV?? I can't get enough!! I try to justify it by saying 'I consider it a window into a sociological experiment.' But I really DO!!! I think it's so compelling to watch how actual humans behave. This is a window into how other people live, and I enjoy it because I think- I have NO idea what it's like to be that kind of person. How do they function? And also, I LLLOOOOOVVVEEE when people get their come-uppance, so when they act like skanks, there is usually retribution, and THAT I love. Only next to Schadenfreude. I don't know if I'm spelling this right, but it's one of my fave words. It's a German word meaning 'happiness at someone else's misery'. And when a mean, horrible person is miserable, I love it. I know, what an admirable quality. But to thine own self be true. So I admit it. I love reality shows. Sue me.
I know there are so many more- there was one that lasted about a half a season, called Undeclared, which Judd Apatow directed and produced. It was awesome, and I have no idea why it was cancelled. I'm still sad about it.
Let me know yours!!
I was going to add a second top 5 today because I missed yesterday's, but I don't want to swamp!
