Getting a price quote over the phone
Is it okay to call a few reception halls and get a price quote before visiting them? I have been to two so far and fell in love with one of the them (crest hollow) but it seems that the food at fox hollow is much better. Can anyone give me some more input on these two? Thank you.

Re: Getting a price quote over the phone
i got a lot of price quotes over the phone. they may not want to give it to you at first, so I was persistent.........i would ask them to at least give me the ranges........then i would ask what determined whether something was at the top or the bottom of the range.i would also say that i'm only visiting places that gave me some sense of price over the phone.

I totally agree...be persistent. A lot of these places will give you the runaround because they think if you come in and see the place you'll fall in love with it and not care how much it costs. They don't want to tell you the price before giving you their sales pitch.
Definitely be persistent and tell them that you're not visiting unless they give you a range. I wasted time visiting some places that were way out of our price range...As I see it, they're just wasting our time and their time by not being up front about prices. I visited one place that spent over an hour with us giving us a tour, etc. before telling us that their price for the time of year we wanted was over $200 pp...WAY out of our price range!

Re: Getting a price quote over the phone
Thank you so much for the advice. I was very persistent and stated that I lived too far to come and see the reception hall unless I knew it fell into my price range. I still ran into a few places that refused to tell me one place just said that they fell anywhere from $50-175......a pretty big difference!

That is the best way to do it. This way you know if the hall falls within your budget.

Re: Getting a price quote over the phone
I called reception halls before I would even go to them. I wanted to get prices but also feel out the representatives. I hate pitchy people, so I only went to the halls that didn't seem like they were trying to sell me the Brooklyn Bridge so to speak.

Re: Getting a price quote over the phone
i had a lot of halls tell me no on the phone to a price quote unless we met in person so i just responded with the statement that i did not want to waste their time and my time in setting up an appointment and meeting/discussing only to find out that it's WAY out of the realm of our budget.so i would say i just want to know if it's within reach and then i'll set up an appt-- can you give me a range?? if they get really annoying with still not giving a price then they ususally ask what you are looking to spend so i would give a ballpark of that and see if they come within it--
i never had a RH give me a problem though once i mentioned that i didn't want to waste either of our time-- they went from saying no price quotes over the phone to 'we charge THIS for a sunday night'... lol so it worked out well, GOOD LUCK HTH

Same here. Almost every hall I called was willing to give a price range, but a few were hesitant until I said the same thing as STBMrsDaniRella.
