How does this work exactly? I purchased my dress from Lillette's but I want to go elsewhere for alterations. So...how do I handle this with the salon? Do I tell them now? Do I have to hound them to make sure it comes in early enough for me to do this?
I'd love advice from anyone else who has done this- thanks!!

im not getting my alterations done from where i got my dress. im not telling them till the day it comes in and i try it on and make sure it fits somewhat and there is nothing wrong with it. i wouldnt tell them now. but def make sure they give u a round about date on when the dress will be in to insure you will have enough time to go eles where. hope that helps

and they cant tell you, YOU HAVE to get it done there. u just have to pay for the dress in full before u can walk out with it. my salon was trying to tell a friend of mine she HAD to have it done there and there is nothing in her contract about her wedding dress saying she must get alterations done there.

when my dress came in they wanted me to make an appointment for a fitting, I told them I was not getting alterations done there and would just be picking the dress up.

This is really just more of an FYI: My personal seamstress told me to make sure that when I order the dress that I tell them at least a month ahead of my wedding what my wedding date is.

Well, you have to make sure this is the right dress, there is NOTHING wrong with it (pull, stain, etc...). Once that dress is out of the store, they will blame you for it.
Just tell them that you will have the alterations done somewhere else. You don't have to have them do it.

I got my dress at Paradise Bridals and I am getting it altered by Phyliss at Bridal Elegance... I picked up my dress when it came in (have to pay in full when you pick it up) and drove it right to the other salon... I didn't tell them before hand that I was doing this. It's supposed to come in on time regardless
