Getting BM dresses made

Getting BM dresses made

In general...do people feel this is more expensive than buying them?

I have my MOH who lives in LA and cannot afford to come home to go dress shopping...so I am trying to do what will be easiest for everyone- and of course they all have their own idea of what kind of dress they want to wear...so I thought it might be easiest to pick out the fabric and have them get the dresses made...

I think it's expensive to have a dress made, but I guess it's worth checking it out...I have BM in CA also, and she is ordering her dress at the bridal salon here, (just calling in measurements) and I'm prob going to ship it to her, unless she can make it for the shower, then she can pick it up and she'll have it altered on her own.

I'm doing that for 2 other BMs also from boston.

Did you have them pick out their own dresses? Or did you basically tell them what dress they were wearing?

One of the weddings I'm in has bridesmaids from all over the country...

We were given a swatch and told short dresses and are on our own for the rest!

getting them made costs just as much, if not more than to just order them. I've been in BPs where we had the dress made and it cost the same as the other BPs Ive been in where we just ordered them.

Also, I was in a BP where the bride was in Canada, she ordered the dresses for everyone since we were all over the states. We gave her out measurements and once she got the gowns, she sent them to us to get altered. It wasn't a problem at all....she picked it out.

I really would love to just do that...but they all have their minds set on picking it out themselves. Its really my fault because I said I wold give them the option from the beginning but now I wish I hadn't

hmmm this is when I think you make an executive decision and say ' this is the designer, fabric and color. Let me know what dress you want and I will order them all at once.' THey just need to get measured at a professional bridal salon or at a place that has a seamstress and you can order them all for them.

Tell them to shop around but it has to be in the designer, color and fabric YOU want. It is YOUR day.

I know...I am such a people pleaser though- it is agonizing to say that when I know I am going to get backlash... I hate confrontation

But when it comes down to it I guess I am going to have to because no one else will if I don't
