I keep reading here about everyone doing pregnancy tests at home that are negative (when they should be positive) and then positive (when it's actually negative). How accurate are the tests? I don't want to worry about having to buy so many tests since I'll need to take 3 a month just to get a right answer. I never even thought that I would have to worry about that!

Karen, hpts suck....they truly do....they aren't made well....
however on the other hand, 50% of all pregnancies end up in chemical ones..meaning, you can test, get a positive, and then test again and it's gone .......

I totally understand. I took so may tests last cycle...I even though I got BFN...I wasn't taking them right. I bought the test with the control to let you know if it was done correctly and those are the only ones I will take from now on. They are alot more expensive, but that will prevent me from taking them all of the time!

Re: Getting discouraged
i think alot of women take the hpt's too early (cause they r super excited and trying) and should wait until they are sufficiently late with there period to get more accurate results and to avoid the misfortune of knowing about a chemical pregnancy... JMO... also digital works best, those lines r wacky, its like too dark, too light, they disappear and come at a whim, if the light aint right u dont kno what ur seeing lmao... go digital!

I agree with the digitial. If you have enough will power , wait till AF is late and take a Digitial, there havent much reports of any false positives on those and the big fat pregnant versus not pregnant will help.

I gotta agree - if the digitals' weren't so darned expensive, I'd just stock up on those and forget all about the rest
That said, when you test as many times as we ladies do around here there isn't much way to keep using digitals HPT (not to mention, I believe they dont detect a lower level of HCG in your urine, so they are useless for early testing anyhow)
That said - I do believe the best and most accurate way to test (no matter what the brand of test is) is to wait until AF is due OR officially 'late' I truly have come to believe that these early detection, HPTs are the worst things they ever invented There is too much room for error and often too heartbreaking in getting your hopes up, only to find out you've endured a chemical pregnancy
