My son has begun to get lots of different things that I just would never put on him or display in his room. They all come from my husbands side of the family. While I am very appreciative of their gifts, I just know that they will sit in the closet unworn because it is just not what I want my son wearing. And I just fear that every holiday it is going to be more things that are going to go to the back of the closet. How do you all deal with this? Just let it be and hope that MIL doesn't ask about things??

I haven't encountered this yet (my hubby's family is VERY small) but my sister has. What she's done is put the kids in the outfits once, then she can say they wore it. You can break out the camera that afternoon and take a couple of pictures for proof if you want . Some things she never put on them though.

this is going to sound tacky I know but a girlfriend of mine would taks pics of the baby in the outfit hiding hte tags and then return it to the store if she knew which store the outfit came from. If not she would regift it. I know cause she did that to me forgetting she had showed me the outfit, when she got it.
What I did is just bring it back to the store if I knew where it came from and get something i could use or liked

Do you really think that they would ask about the gift if they did not see the baby wearing it? I wouldn't think so....I would either return them or sell them on Ebay!

I returned a TON of gifts that were just not my style or were hoinh to be too big.. the two woirst gifts I got was from my FIL cousins.. One was a White Dress and in puffy paint was Jillians name and it has a matching hat....and the Clock that belongs in a class room or a kitchen with her name on it.. it does not even match her room....why not a piggy bank or something like it... some people just do not think....

My SIL in returns it. I know their have things that I bought my neices that I have never seen them in but I know what I bought probably wasn't to practical so I dont mind, it was the thought that I bought them something and if she doesnt like it, its ok. I wouldnt worry about returning the items, you cant expect to have the same taste as everyone that gives you the gift.
