Went to the hospital for an ultrasound to check baby's size. They are estimating about 8lb 8oz. for this kid! They checked my cervix, and its not 'ripe' enough yet, so I am going in on Monday night for Cervidil to ripen the cervix and then Tues. they will start the pitocin to bring on labor.
I am freaking out! I hope things happen naturally between now and then. Say a prayer for me please!!!!

I cant tell you how many times Ive heard of women going into labor on their own right before their induction. My one friend was supposed to go in at 8am and she went into labor around 4am. I know for me, there was hardly anything-effacement or dialation-even 4 or 5 days overdue but next thing you know, it moved along very fast, so it really can happen quickly naturally.

Thanks guys. My actual due date is July 9, so the induction will only be about 3 days early. But they want to induce b/c of the size of the baby. I am both excited and nervous at the same time.

I was scheduled for an ultrasound to check the babies size and I went into labor shortly before the appt. - Jordan turned out to be 9lbs. 5oz. and he was a week early! I have no hopes of this baby being small either, my DH and I were both 9 pounders

I was scheduled for an induction but only if I showed signs of ripening/dilation on my own. I did in the one week they gave me and I ended up being induced and not going in to labor on my own. It wasn't that bad, but be prepared for a long night(s.)
Good luck...next Wednesday is my B-day!

I have one word for you.. EPIDURAL!!!!!! i was induced and let me tell you your contractions come on fast and they are painful...I had my contractions from 4 min to one min in over an hour i would have been in labor for aot longer but the epidural let me relaxand i slept and i was only in labor for 12 hours and I was induced 4 weeks early so my cervix was really not ripe. Aidan was 8 lb 8oz! And they were estimating 9.5-10 lb.
At 10 days overdue they had the same plan for me and unfortunately it did not start labor, so I will be praying for you to either go naturally or be like everyone else who has successful inductions!

I hope you go on your own before then. Plus, most times the baby is smaller than anticipated. Many ladies can have 10+ pounders fit thru the birth canal anyway. I think the drs. really panic these days. I think you will be able to birth the baby fine. Best of luck!

Jodi, wow! I hope that happens to me. The less intervention I get the better. I am really nervous about having all these drugs/hormones to do what should happen naturally, but they don't want to wait, and neither do I.
Thanks for the advice... I hadn't heard anything about the Cervidil before this.
