getting married in 12 days....need advice

getting married in 12 days....need advice

I keep looking at all of your pictures and seeing how beautiful they are and how in love everyone looks...nobody looks nervous at all!

I'm getting married in just 12 days..it is so exciting.....FH and I have somehow wildly managed to get engaged, buy a house, move in, and plan a wedding in just 6 months. Thats a lot!
We've handled it relly well, but I must say that as the final days are counting down, we are totally stressed out. There is so much to do, as you know. FH and I have been so caught up in speeding to get everything done in time.....we are definitely feeling it.

While we are totally in love, I fear that on our wedding day, we'll still be so caught up in the nerves and anxiety, that we won't look quite a relaxed as everyone here does.....I'm really nervous about it.
I fear that we'll be so nervous about the band, food, all the rushing we've been doing....we won't be nearly as calm and romantic looking as everyone else does.

This may impossible for you to do at this point, but STOP worrying!!!!!!

You're lucky if you can do it now, but many brides feel the way you do right up until the day before the wedding. Then something magical happens and you wake up, realize it's your wedding day, and all-of-a-sudden the anxiety is gone!!! You can only plan so much, at that point everything is up to those you've entrusted so just sit back, relax, and enjoy your day!!

My attitude as the wedding got closer was 'it's out of my hands now.'

Your day will be beautiful and wonderful and you want to be relaxed so you can enjoy it!

I totally agree with Stephanie. Up until the day of I was really obsessed with the details and everything being 'perfect.' It was a goal of mine however that on the day of and the night before I wouldn't worry about a thing and just let what be, be. I also made it a point to only surround myself with those who would not make me crazy on the morning of....so I was only with those closest to me, accompanied by some champagne punch.

Because of these few things the day of my wedding was the best day of my life. I laughed and cried and partied my @ss off and was so CALM because I didn't worry about a thing. Did I notice that my centerpieces were on the wrong stand and that my pocketbook was missing the entire day with all my makeup in it? Of course. But I threw my hands up and said 'whatever' - this is about DH and I and bringing our families together.

I know it's tough...but let it all go! These last days are the most crazy, but also the most precious.

I was surprised the morning of my wedding that I was calm, got up on time, got ready and I was truely fine. Everyone kept asking me how I was and I would say 'I'm really fine. I just want to get to the church already'. I thought I was going to be a nervous wreck the morning of my wedding and I wasn't. I forgot about all the planning at that point and just had to believe in my vendors to do a good job. Maybe you could rely on friends or family to pick up any last minute things that you feel need to be done or if something came up at the wedding you could just direct that person with the question to the person you want to answer the question. I hope that made sense. You will have a great wedding. Just step back from it all and take a deep breath, smile a lot and kiss your DH a lot. Enjoy!

I was pretty calm the morning of too...I guess whatever is going to happen will happen. You have done your best to plan and think of everything. The weather will be whatever its going to be (hopefully it will be nice for you )

Just enjoy each and every moment...it really goes by too fast...WAAAY too fast! The 2005 brides taught me this...during your reception take a moment to step back and watch everyone dancing and having a good time....soak it all in...hold your new DH's hand and say 'honey they are all here for us' this is what I did...And honestly I still remember that moment...it was during dinner and we were sitting at the sweetheart table.

ENJOY IT!

Re: getting married in 12 days....need advice

I remember what you are feeling right now - it feels like you will never get what still needs to be done - DONE. Forget about the fights that DH and I were getting in at this point of our wedding planning - it was to the point where we were both like 'is it worth it?'

Then the day comes and for some reason I could care less if the flowers weren't the right colors or the pew decorations weren't hung the right way...all that mattered was that I was getting married and that I was marrying my amazing fiance and FINALLY going to be able to say husband. Not too sure why it happens but you just don't care whether things go wrong or not (at least I didn't that day) - you are so caught up with the fact that all these people are here to see you guys commit your lives to one another that what goes wrong is the last thing on your mind.

So my best advice is don't let anything worry you the day of your wedding...no one will notice if the place cards are not lined up correctly or if you didn't do church programs - focus on the fact that it is YOUR WEDDING DAY the day you have been dreaming about forever - it goes so fast - don't get caught up with being nervous or stressed out...

Best of Luck

I was a total lunatic until the day of my wedding. Especially the day before. I was nervous, anxious, freaking out. The day of I only had 2 hours of sleep, and I looked wide awake, and I was very calm and collected. It was time to enjoy the day that so much hard work went into. It was the day I was marrying the man of my dreams. You are going to look gorgeous in your pics.

The week of my wedding I was so stressed and relieved that the planning was coming to an end. I only got three hours sleep because I was so anxious about the day going by so fast and hoping that nothing goes wrong.

The morning of the wedding I was so relaxed. I couldn't wait to get into my gown and marry my best friend. I thought I was going to need a zanax but my one of my sisters' needed it not me because she was so nervous because it was my wedding day

Don't worry you are going to look gorgeous and have a wonderful day

I felt the same way, I usually am very nervous, and I thought it would be strange having someone taking photos and video of EVERY little thing I did that day...but for some reason I was completely calm and NOTHING bothered me. You will be just fine. Enjoy the day it only happens once,

I was really calm the whole day which surprised everyone, but somany things were going right, and the weather was beautiful. Because although there was no rain in the forecast for my wedding day, it rained so much in Spring & Summer of 2006 I feared it would and it would 'ruin' all the pix. The day turned out to be beautiful with no humidity and I was beyond calm. I was the calmest one in the house and I can't describe it - its something so natural that just comes over you. Its this excitement to be getting married and to be marrying your one true love. Its just so hard to explain. You'll do fine! Just be calm and you won't have to worry about the pix, and looking natural - it will just come over you! You'll do fine! GOOD LUCK! and we want to see pix!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

first of all, I was definitely nevous in my pics a little in the beginning b/c I'm not so thrilled with having my picture taken, and we had video, so I think I did pretty good lol...

2nd of all ..nooo do not be nervous, just let it all happen...it's such a fun time! You will be amazed, you are just calm. I didn't get any sleep the night before either and I stayed up until like 5am on our wedding night! Have fun and congrats!

On your wedding day you will be so caught up in your love for one another that there will be no room in your head or your heart for nerves and anxiety.

On my day I was standing in front of the judge and I realized I didn't have my copy of the vows, and I whispered to DH to ask if he had them, and he didn't have them either. You know what? There is not one single picture of me looking anxious. Why not? Because even though DH & I didn't have the laminated copies of the vows that I so carefully prepared two weeks earlier - the judge had copies of them, so it didn't matter in the least.

I know it seems like all the little things are so important right now and that if something goes wrong it will be the end of the world. But on your wedding day, you will wake up and realize you are marrying your best friend, the love of your life and all of that will go away. You might be a little nervous, but the stress will melt away. You will just feel the excitement of being a bride and the thought that in a few short hours you will be getting married.
I went for a walk the morning of my wedding so I could have some time alone before everything got started (even though it was 5:30AM!) and that helped me to relax a lot.
Just have fun and remember what is done is done, you can't change the weather, or if someone is late or anything.
My mom spilled champagne all over her dress right before we walked down the aisle, but I didn't even worry for a second, my mom to this day says she can't believe how calm I stayed - and thats why she didn't freak out.
So don't worry. .Everything will come together and your wedding day will be everything you dreamed of.

i know its going to sound weird-- but honestly that morning I woke up and the sky could have fallen in-- and I wouldn't have cared at all!! A calmness came over me... b/c i finally realized it was about me and my husband-- and not the flowers, not the hair-do, not the saeating arrangements... just us finally making it official.
read my review-- I can tell you the week before was insanity for me.... so insane i forgot that we were even booked for a honeymoon afterwards!! ( what a nice treat!!)

just keep the flow going-- and when you wake up on your bug day-- try and let it run for you-- you've planned enough-- and it will eb set in motion-- and people will take up for you if you sont have the tight grip on things--- and I promise it will flow beautifully!!

Honey the last month of my single life was the most stress out I've ever been! I had in-law drama, family drama, the nasty catering vendor in the world, plus our budget was horribly tight. You know what after it was all done and there was nothing more I could do about anything, I just stopped worrying and started having fun. Trust me I'm convinced that every smiling bride, is just relieved its over! No more planing, no more family issues, all peace and quiet from here on out. Theres an unwritten rule about weddings. 'don't upset the bride on her big day.' Trust me people follow it for a reason.

it's so nice to read what you ladies are saying....cause i'm in the same boat as the OP...just 17 days to go, and i'm wigging out too. FH and i are moving into our first apt. this weekend, had to re-paint it, buy new furniture (we both have nothing cause we were living with family) and then get used to living together as well as finish planning this wedding...and oh yeah GET MARRIED!

but i'm happy to know that i'm not alone in my anxiety. i'm hoping soooo bad that i am like you all and just kind of let go on the big day and just enjoy myself. i really want to!

Future Mrs. -- a fellow Feb. 2007 bride says good luck to you!

I know you think you will be crazy worrying that day, but I am sure you will wake up the day of and realize there's nothing you can do at that point. It will be your wedding day, the show will go on no matter what, and everything will be perfect and beautiful. If for some reason something does go wrong or a vendor forgets something, no one will even notice, probably just you and FH. So stay calm, relax, and realize you picked these great vendors because you believed in them to do a great job at your wedding. You are not the first wedding these vendors will be working for (they do hundreds a year), so they are all qualified and will do a wonderful job. Your day is going to be beautiful. Relax and enjoy every minute of it!

I felt alot of pressure etc the last couple of days too and one of the BEST things i did was.....

the day before the wedding i went and got a mani/pedi w/ my mom and sister. Then, i went and had a steam room and 1 hr massage. It was PERFECT!! I was so relaxed and calm. I went out to dinner that night w/ my parents and sister and i felt great.

i woke up the morning of my wedding relaxed and CALM. All my BMs couldnt beleive it. They kept sying i was the calmest bride they ever knew.
