I haven't had a ring for two long weeks but im finally getting it back tonight...It will be nice to have an e-ring again.
I wish the setting was somehow destroyed in an accident (without harming my stone) and could not be repaired so I could get a new one without FH thinking I wanted a new one. I think i'll continue to plot this bridezilla plan. Any ideas?
lol!... even though some people will think thats not funny I do and I really hope I don't have to hate my setting for the rest of my life!

are there just a few things you want to change...or do you need an entirely new setting?

Everyones entitled to their own opinion, but I think its horrible that you would wish for your ring to get destroyed. Hate it all you want, but love it all the same bc its what your fh picked for you.

You know I haven't responded yet because I was trying to find the right words to express my opinion without being harsh. I kind of feel like if you are truly in love with someone and want to spend the rest of your life with someone, it doesn't matter what type of ring they get you. What matters is that you love him unconditionally for the rest of your life. I also feel that maybe Fh doesn't know you to well, b/c I feel like a most men do buy what they know their GF like or have mentioned they liked. I mean when you have a relationship with someone they are supposed to know everything about you. If he really had no clue as to what you wanted then why didn't he ask for help. I just feel like you should be honest and maybe talk about why he picked out that particular ring for you. I mean I got a tiffany setting 1 1/2 carat ring and I love it..everyone that sees it says that it was a ring made for me..it fits me perfectly, but when I got engaged Fh knew I loved this one tacori setting and after he gave me the ring he said You may now pick out any setting you want, he said I will buy whatever you choose and I said no way b/c I fell in love with that ring, just as quickly as I fell in love with Fh 3 years ago. He knows me like a book and picked out a very high quality diamond and I am grateful that I have someone that knows exactly who I am!

honestly, if you don't like the ring that much then maybe you should say something. You sound very upset with it and that you don't want to even wear it so you should think of a nice way to let your fh know that. Your going to have to wear it everyday so you should have something you like. I know it would be hard to tell him but if you wish something would happen to it, then you must really hate it.

I personally think your setting is beautiful!
However, if you don't, I think you should talk to your FH. Tell him that you love the ring and the setting is beautiful- its not not 'you'. Its not your style and doesnt fit your personality. That way you're not criticizing his ring choice, just say you dont think its the right choice for you.

if you hate it as much as you seem to, i would say something. you dont want to look at your ring with disgust....
you might learn to love it, but if not, better to change it than hate it.

for what it's worth, i think your setting is gorgeous! i would be very careful about telling FH that you don't like the setting. You know him best and can gauge whether or not he would take this well. The whole ring buying process is a big deal for most guys, and they put their heart into it. Being told that their choice $ucks could really crush a guy.

I really have to be honest, I think thats a really horrible thing to say. He probably put a lot of work and thought into it. If your so uphappy with it, then I would say something, but you have to find the right words. But you also need to think how he will take the news, you might regret it.

i have to agree with what the other said. as far as it being a horrible thing to say that you hope it gets destroyed & that maybe he should of known your taste a little better. i think that you shouldn't say anything to him about it because he probably worked very hard to buy it for you & it may cause more problems then necessary.

I think if a relationship is strong enough...you should be able to tell him. If he knew what you wanted...but went down another path...maybe you should let him know you totally appreciate what he did for you...but would be happier with some changes being made. I hate secrets or lies...so I wouldnt be able to hold back. There has to be a nice way to get the point across.

Re: Getting my ring back tonight
My FH and I have been together for 3 years and we know each other inside and out, and feel we are soulmates. He is the finest man I have ever known and I 100% want to be with him forever. Im sure everybody here knows that feeling. I didn't need a peice of jewlery to confirm any of that... I wish he would have proposed without one.
In 3 years I have gotten one strange gift after another (ex. tail lights for my car on my birthday, because he liked them on ebay?...alot of other random/ not me gifts) But it's aborable because I know they come from his heart, he's just really bad at picking out things for anybody. His gifts have always made me smile. He is old fashioned and normally I admire & love that about him. He said the ring must be a surprize. I begged him to let me choose it because it's not like all the other gifts he ever gave me that I smiled about and thought were cute. It was my RING! and an ugly ring is NOT cute! I had a horrible nightmares about what my ring would look like, but to my surprize it's 1000x better then I actually would have expected, it's just not me. The stone was above my wildest dreams though...
Anyway im glad some people see how I feel. Reading my own posts I know I sound like a horrible btich, I swear im not. I could tell him and I will, it's just easier to admit these feelings on Long Island wedding boards then to him right now.

Re: Getting my ring back tonight
in my opinion..its just a ring....yes it's something you wear for the rest of your life but its just a material thing that has come from tradition..the important part is the marriage and the commitment to eachother...not whats on your finger...if it was 1/4 a carat or a band i wasnt crazy about i wouldnt care because in the end im still marrying the man that is meant for me and in the end the ring is just something that is a material. sure its nice to love your ring but thats not the important thing here. if i told my FH i didnt like the ring i think he would be crushed. he put his time and effort into picking out something for me and i would appreciate it. JMHO
ETA: i just looked at your ring and its beautiful...how can you not like that setting? alot of girls would die for that setting
