getting on the pill...now

you know, i just went to the gyno yesterday and asked for a prescription. I've never been on the pill so I figured I would start now and see how my body reacts....FH really does not want me to take it.... So I dont know what to do now becasue i know there could be a lot of side effects. any opinions?

you dont have to stay on the pill so if you feel side effects then just go off them or talk to a doc about a different one

but considering your different experiences, do you think its wise to start it now with just a couple months to go..i heard theres stuff like weight gain with it too

everyone reacts so differents.... i would def stay away from ortho cause it seems many girls (including myslef) had problems with it. I personally love the one i am on, its a triphasal so you are supposed to no get as many side effects!
p.s. i am on azurette (generic for Mircette and LOVE it!)

To be honest, the only side effect I dealt with was that I was really nauseous during the first week I ever took the pill.

I'm on Trinessa, the generic of Ortho.

I didn't experience weight gain - but I did start WW a couple of months after I began the pills. I didn't experience mood swings.

It really regulated my period, and now I know like clockwork when it's coming and when it's gone. My cramps lightened up as well.

I think like with everything in life, you hear more about the mad stuff than the good. Think about it. The newspapers are 90% upsetting stories and 10% good stories. You'll find the same when it comes to people's reviews of pretty much anything...people love to complain, but don't often praise things.

I started on ortho about 10 years ago and I've never had any bad side effects, except that maybe it decreases your libido, but never to the point where I've considered getting off of it. I take the generic version of ortho now. I actually love it. It's great knowing when your period is coming every month and it has DEFINITELY decreased the severity of my cramps.

I had a lot of issues with ortho- nausea (to the point where my mom asked if I was prego), weight gain, lowered libido and at the time I was *stupidly* smoking so I was always afraid of clots. I'm much happier now that I'm off of it.
