getting paid to dance?

Original post by jesca

so my MOH was going off on some tangent the other night, tell us about how you have people pay to dance with you at your wedding? each person gets like, 30 seconds to dance with you during a set time at the wedding, but they pay, and that money goes towards your honeymoon. i've never heard of this in my entire life. anyone else know anything about it? or is she just insane?

I heard it's pretty popular in the South and Midwest to do the dollar dance and sometimes I hear that they pin the money on the grooms lapel and the brides veil.

MY cousin did at his. But it was kind of awkward because noone has ever seen that before and weren't expecting to give more money. I flew to Vegas and paid for a hotel and gave them a nice check. I hadn't budgeted 'dollor dance' money into my trip and all I had in my bag at the time was a $20 so I didn't dance I still feel bad about it but I feel like it's asking people for more $ and its a little weird.

We first saw this at a wedding we went to down here in FL. We were explained that it originated in the south. We were thinking about it for our wedding but then scratched it because it didn't seem like something we would wanted to do.

a friend of mine did this...it was called 'The dollar dance'....they played a fun song & everyone payed a dollar to dance with either the bride or groom - and of course some people were generous with their 'dollars'...imo it was cute - but some people said they thought it was a little tacky.
