getting rid of acne scars?

Original post by Alyssa79

so i have 2 years to do something about this. I absolutely do not want my wedding photos having these in them! I know makeup will cover up but only to an extent.

I have tried quite a few over the counter things and nothing has worked. Not even minimized. The dermatologist I'm afraid will offer me all these treatments I don't need.

what have you gals used and have seen work?

Re: getting rid of acne scars?

I just had microdermabrasion and it worked wonders. Since I have a lot of acne scarring, I am going back on June 20th to have a chemical peel done to finish clearing up the scars. I also use a lightening lotion on my face which is helping to even out my skintone. I also get mini facials (30 minutes) once a month ($60) to get the extractions and my pores cleaned out. The microdermabrasion + facial was $220. The chemical peel & facial is also $220. I go to Smooth Synergy Spa in NYC at 56th and Lexington.

Re: getting rid of acne scars?

I've had problems with acne my whole life and I was sick of going to dermotologists who dried out my skin and didn't help at all. The last straw was a doctor who said 'hmm still bumpy'... So I started getting facials monthly at Amethyst Rose in Islip (right next door to The Gatsby) and it has made a huge difference in both my minimal scarring and my overall texture and acne. In the winter I do glycolic facials/peels (too sensitive for the summer sun).
Edited for addition: Oh yeah, and I've tried everything mentioned here already too. (proactiv, retinA, I was even on oral medication for awhile...)

Good luck, FM me if you find anything.

I have been going to Glaser Dermatology in Massapequa. It's about 20 minutes away from Babylon. I don't have acne scars but I went there to have a mole checked (thankfully no skin cancer) and because I have sun spots (melasma)on my face which I lightened with the prescription Triluma cream. They really know what they are doing there. Here is their number: 516.799.0210
Don't worry about your photos...the photog can airbrush the pics if necessary and the right makeup will cover a lot of imperfections. I found during my makeup trials that airbrush makeup hides more imperfections than traditional also
