getting rid of acne scars?

getting rid of acne scars?

so i have 2 years to do something about this. I absolutely do not want my wedding photos having these in them! I know makeup will cover up but only to an extent.

I have tried quite a few over the counter things and nothing has worked. Not even minimized. The dermatologist I'm afraid will offer me all these treatments I don't need.

what have you gals used and have seen work?

I've tried proactive for both scarring and acne and it didnt work for me. Alot of people say use coco butter but it just clogs up my pores. you should try mineral makeup. it works wonders, Ive tried it and it covers up great. But i'd still like to get rid of them so ill be visiting a dermatologist soon

I scar really easily because i ahve dark skin but ist VERY sensitive so most producst make it worse. I like teh Neutrogena line. i alternate between the visibly Even line (worked wonders for ym wedding); it evens skin out and reduces discoloration over time. and they have a new line, Stress free and his other stuff I use like a mini peel. i forget the name but I;ll check when i get home.

As far as concealers go, i was CRAZY broken out for our day after pics. You cant tell but I was wearing THE BALM concealer. Works wonders.

are they dark scars or are they deep scars? If they are deep 'pits', you can have them filled with restalyne.

My FH used to be a chemist for Estee Lauder and he said it is more for body scars.

I dont think that there is very much you can do about it. DH has cystic acne so his face is scarred, just ask your photographer about having the pics airbrushed to cover them if you cant find anything

I know its tough- I don't know products to use but I have a good friend who went for microdermabrasion and it really helped. It is a tad costly overall but its not all at once since its a series of treatments. ( I think she paid 100 per treatment and paid a drop less each time she went) for a total of 6 times. Now she goes every 6 weeks to maintain.

You can also try a foundation primer- like smashbox and try not to put it everywhere- apply with a brush just where you need it filled. A really inexpensive option that works great as well is monistat antichafing gel. I know I know its monistat brand but the active ingredient is the same as all the other foundation primers out there.

My dermatologist said chemical peels are good for scars. I asked him about them for acne but he suggested waiting until my acne clears and then getting them to reduce any scars I might have.

i've tried the at home microdermabrasion and nada. Cocoa butter/Vitamin E both clogging and nada.

I do like the Neutragena Visibly Even moisturizer...it has evened out the tone but not reduced scars lol.

I think I need to pay a visit to a dermatologist which brings me to my next question. Can someone recommend a good one in the Babylon, Deer park, West Islip area?

Muchos Gracias

What about laser treatments?

Re: getting rid of acne scars?

Ask your dermatologist about RetinA Micro...i used it for a few years and it kept my skin texture very smooth and clear...unfortunately i developed a constant redness where applied so i stopped using it.

I am an licensed esthetician... I would recommend getting microdermabrasion done...there is also laser treatments you could get but that can result in redness for a few months after so i wouldnt do that before the wedding..fm me if you have any questions.

I have the same problem. I was just looking at the mirror and wanted to cry. Im going to have to go to a dermatologist and see about how I can minimize the scarring. I tried the new product from clinique that is supposed to even out your skin but I haven't noticed any difference and I think its making me break out even more

That's a very good price. I wen to maximus in merrick (??) it's been a long time. i didn't have many to begin with so i can't say it will get rid of more serious cases, but i'm sure it would help reduce the appearance. i think mine was $100 each and 10% off if you booked a series. i booked 4.

FH had the laser facial (epifacial). i don't think it did much, but he only went for 1 and you're supposed to go for a series. that was around $350 each.
