Getting the negatives.
I was just wondering how common it is to get the negatives of your wedding photos. I know some photogs do, some don't and some charge a fee.

I'm pretty sure mine is giving them to us after we do the album for free.
ours are giving them to us for free!! it was very important that we get the negatives back, so we didnt even bother looking into photographers that didnt release the negatives for free.
You should be able to negotiate that if they are charging a fee. Like ask if you can get it for a reduced rate or for free if you wait x months or one year. The ones that hang onto them do so because they want you to come to them for enlargements and such, but after x months some believe that you'd have gotten any pics that you would have wanted, and they don't have a problem handing them over to you. Also, I've found that those photographers that state that they don't hand them over actually do. They don't want to hang onto them for years and years, they just say that to make you pay a fee to get them quicker. Ask what they do with them in say, five years, and chances are you'll find that they admit that they hand them over to you.
Do you mean negatives or proofs? Because the few places I went to see give the proofs back, but I've never heard of negatives.
I am getting both my proofs and negatives for free. They are standard with my package! I definitely want all the negatives!
does anyone know if twelfth night gives the negatives?
ooh thats great - thanks. I still have not been able to meet with them. Theyre so darn far..
i dont think we are getting the negatives, we are getting all the proofs. 4*4 pics. he said about 400 or so.
It comes with the package.
We aren't getting negatives b/c our picutres are all digital but they do give us a proof book as well as a CD with all our pictures on them.
we are getting the negatives and a cd with the proofs.
