Sorry but i need to vent!!! I am plus size bride (not tall, weight wise) and I am starting to get very upset about how i am going to look at my wedding. I have my alteration appointment today and I know they have to adjust it but i feel huge in it. I always thought that i was going to look great for my wedding but the weight didn;t come off quick enough and now I am depressed and leaning toward not wanting to get married. Help i need advise and some words of wisdom.

My words of wisdom are that you FH loves you for who you are not how you look in a wedding dress and I am 100% sure that he will think you are the most beautiful thing he has ever seen when you are walking down that aisle!!!

You are going to be HOT! don't worry.
i'm a plump size 18 (and very short) and i had the SAME fears. i was convinced that everyone would think i was a giant spanish marshamallow.
not to toot my own horn, but i KNOW i looked SEXIFIED on my wedding day! i was LARGE and in CHARGE! you will be too
advice: once your gown is altered--you will be looking fine as hell. remember--don't pass judgement on your fittings until the end, cause its a work in progress. when i went for 2nd fitting, it was all pinned and ripped and stuff, and i got worried. by the end i was blown away

Don't worry! Like the above poster said, your FH loves you as you are. Besides, it is really difficult to get a sense of what the dress is going to look like until all of the alterations are finished. Even pinning isn't a good representation of the final product.

you will look great!!! You are also trying it on without ur hair and makeup done. Imagine how great ur gonna look all done up! Don't worry! FH loves you no matter what!!! Don't stress it and remember that the day is about the two of you starting the rest of your lives together and being married in front of your loved ones- its not all about the dress. :)

Plus sized sexi mamma here too!!!! I felt the same way you do. I wanted to be that size siX beautiful bride with perfectly toned arms. But, I'm not, and in the end it's ok, because FH chose ME, not the size six model. He loves me for me and that is what is important. Sure I have my 'ughhh I look fat days' and I worry about how I'm going to look on my wedding day, but I look at my beautiful fellow LI wedding girls plus size and all at their wedding I realize how each and everyone is more beautiful than the next.
It's not the dress that makes you beautiful on that day but your soul shinning as bright as can be because it is being united with the one you love. YOU WILL LOOK BEAUTIFUL!!!
Edited cause I can't spell

Re: Getting very depressed about the Dress
We can all go on and on and tell you how wonderful you will look (because you will look all hot damn). But you really need to look in the mirror at your fitting...or even right now and say I'm beautiful. I look gorgeous every day and I will look even more radiant on my wedding day. Your mind is going to be on the fact that you are marrying the man of your dreams (i'm sounding corny here...but it's true) and your skin will glow and you will look like a gorgeous bride...because you WILL BE a gorgeous bride...whether you are a size 2 or 20.

Sweetie I have seen a lot of BBW strut their stuff on their wedding day. You are going to look wonderful! You are going to be with your family and those who love you and want whats best for you.
Trust me darling focus on the fact that you are marrying the person you love and you will be the glowing with all that joy that no one will ever pay attention to your weight.

Re: Getting very depressed about the Dress
I went through thesame thing trying on dresses. I am a healthy and happy size 20 normally but seeing all the white made me feel gross. So I looked for a dress with some color in it and I felt beautiful trying them on. Be happy with exactly who you are - that is who FH loves!!!!! You will be a beautiful , I promise you that.

Re: Getting very depressed about the Dress
Honey, I feel you. I'm a big girl, too! 20, usually, but my dress is a 22.
I worry sometimes, especially about my arms and chin. But then I think, hey, FH picked me and he thinks I'm beautiful. My BF, who is my MOH, says that I look hot in my dress. I felt fabulously beautiful in my dress, even with my flaws.
Just strut it and be your beautiful self!
Tell yourself that you are fabulous, because you are!

I agree! My weights not coming off the way I dreamed either, but I refuse to let that stop me from having the greatest party of my life!

Don't worry sweetie . . . find comfort in the fact that your FH fell in love with you and asked you to marry him just the way you are now

Re: Getting very depressed about the Dress
OMG don't NOT get married! I'm a plus-sized bride too and I'm not looking foward to strutting around with my flabby arms hanging, and I have horrible thougths of everyone thinking I look like a whale coming down the aisle... But I know I will be so excited I won't have time to think about it, and once I see the look on FHs face when he sees me I know I'll feel good about how I look...and I am sure the same will hold true for you too!
Anyway, you have a month left and if you want to lose some weight its NEVER too late to start. I had hoped to lose like 30lbs by now, but its more like 3lbs. I'm not going to give up though and you shouldn't either... and DON'T BE TOO HARD ON YOURSELF!!

Own it girl! Own your curves!!! Once you put on that dress you're going to FEEL beautiful and that will make you look ten times better than you already do without the dress.

Re: Getting very depressed about the Dress
Oh sweetie, don't get down. I'm a plus size too and I have to say I wasn't happy with the size of my dress, but I love the way I feel in it. I think I look much smaller in it than my regular cloths. I can't wait for my big day.
Just remember your FH is not marrrying the size, just the beautiful woman that you are. You'll look amazing!!!!

Re: Getting very depressed about the Dress
You are getting married to someone who loves you just as you are! Don't get caught up in all the glitz and glamour of a gown and pictures and whatever, it should be about you and FH! Always remember that - marriage is more than what you look like on your wedding day...
And you are going to look BEAUTIFUL no matter what!!! Have confidence in yourself!!
