gift etiquette?

I will expect the guests invited from the tri-state area to send a gift, if they can't come but, I don't plan on receiving any gifts from the OOT'ers that rsvp 'no'.

I however, send a gift if I'm unable to attend regardless of who it is. I usually will send a check if it's a family member or close friend. The others I will buy them something off their registry or from Tiffany.
