Gift for friend in Hospital

Gift for friend in Hospital

Just to update everyone who sent their prayers to my friend who just had her babies: she's awake and doing fine, she's in a regular room since this weekend. She might need some occupational therapy, since the seizure did cause swelling of the brain, but thank God she and her babies are fine.

I'm going to see her in the hospital today and hopefully I'll get to see the babies too. My question is what should I bring her? I know flowers and balloons get to be a bit much in a small hospital room. I'm going to get her a card but is that enough for now? When she's out and I visit her at home, I will get something for the babies. But, is a card enough for today?

bring her mags/books... playing cards/let her borrow a hand held game or something... maybe even a laptop if she's allowed - then she can surf the net... and if it has a dvd then she could watch movies.

I am glad your friend is doing better.

Wish Candy made great suggestions to bring her.

I was thinking along the lines of 'coupons' for helpful tasks for when they are all home - babysitting, bringing over home cooked meals, deliver things from the grocery store, things like that.

Nina .. I'm so glad that your friend is going to be okay!

Great suggestions ladies ... I'd say magazines or a book!

So glad to hear your friend is doing ok. Great news to hear.

I agree with the magazines, books, cards, maybe a radio.

If you see any parenting magazines maybe some parenting magazines.

Has she done a nursery? maybe some magazines about decorating the nursery.

I recently spent 17 days in the hospital and agree that while balloons and flowers are nice, the rooms are way too small for them. Better to save those for when she and the babies get home. My sister sent me flowers a few days after I got home and it really cheered me up, since I have a long recuperation ahead of me and was feeling pretty down.

Books, crossword puzzle or word search books and magazines were among the things that helped with the boredom! You also might want to consider giving her something for when she gets home, like a gift certificate for a manicure or pedicure, or a few hours of maid service (something to look forward to).

Visits are good too, but not long ones. Believe it or not, I felt like I had to entertain people when they came to see me and it really tired me out.

I will keep your friend and her babies in my thoughts and prayers.

When I was in the hospital there were only a few things I wanted - my own pillow, nice hand cream, a hairbrush and my chapstick! I felt too miserable to want to read, look at magazines, etc.
