My mom's birthday is coming up...and I'm the official present-purchaser for the family. (My dad and brother have no shopping sense and my sister is only 13). Once again, I'm at complete loss as to what to get here.
My mom is VERY simple. She does NOT like/would not like the following as a gift:
spa g/c show tickets perfume jewelry purse robe/slippers body sprays/washes
I don't want to a resturant g/c because thats what I usually do for my parents. She really is impossible to shop for. All the 'normal' mom things- she doesn't like. I can't even do something creative like my a scrapbook b/c thats one of my mom's hobbies- scrapbooking (so she already has 100 books)...and I cant get her scrapbooking supplies b/c she already has about $1000 worth.
Please, tell me someone has a creative suggestion? As you can see my mom is nearly impossible, and I just want to get her something she would like...

maybe stuff for the house?? like some decorative pieces like a lenox vase, or a new bathroom set with toothbrush holder soap things etc?

my mom asked for a chi hair straightener for mothers day - my mom is easy to shop for. i just get her something i would like, since we're like the same person. lol

how about a class for scrapbooking? as many books or supplies she has, there's nothing wrong with learning new techniques. there's a place in North babylon that offers awesome classes (sometimes with real artists) and it's called Scrappers Playground. classes can run anywhere from $30 to $100 i believe.

One year I got my Mom an iPod and showed her how to use it...now all she ever wants for her birthday is iTunes GC.

My FH got his brother and sister to go take a 'family portrait' and put it in a nice frame for his Mom. Maybe something like that?
or a gc to Michael's or somewhere, since she is crafty?
Would she like to take lessons with you on something crafty? Pottery maybe?

I actually really wanted to do this! Problem is, my bro goes away to school. I think when he comes home for spring break we'l do it for mother's day.

Does she like to go to shows? I have gotten my mom tickets to off broadway and broadway shows...when everyone chips in, it isn't so bad. I usually get myself a ticket and we go together and spend the day in the city. I don't have any sisters but if you get less expensive tickets maybe all three of you can go!
ETA: lol okay you said she doesn't want show tickets...sorry!! I will brainstorm some more :)

What about an iPhone or blackberry? Or a great digital photo frame with pictures of everyone important in her life on a memory card in the frame? Does she collect anything? My friend just bought her mom a cooking class at a culinary school in Manhattan. Another bought her mom (and herself) swimming lessons...she always wanted to try it, but never got around to it and now she has someone to go with.
