Gift for Priest

The priest who is saying my wedding is the chaplain from my high school. He is coming to my parish to say our mass. I need some help with a gift for him. I don't necessarily want to give him cash as it will go directly to the school. I'd rather give him something more personal. Do you think a nice pen or a watch is appropriate? Any suggestions?

Re: Gift for Priest

I think either is a nice gift. What about a gift certificate to a nice restaurant that he could use to go out with a friend?

Re: Gift for Priest

I was also debating this since the priest helped us get the church in the first place. I think I'm going to give him a gift certificate to the restaurant close to the Church. I feel weird giving cash. I can't think of anything else to give.

Re: Gift for Priest

What about an American Express gift certificate? It is accepted anywhere they take the Amex card (restaurants, theaters, etc.). We may do that for our priest!

Re: Gift for Priest

I like the restaurant gift certificate idea. What do you think is appropriate? $50 $75 $100??? I don't know why this is so wierd...he is a regular guy like any other man...but a priest instead of a lawyer or something!!!
