Gift Help

My best friend is getting married next month. I love her to death but she’s pretty non-traditional. Her wedding is in PA and it is not a “Long Island wedding” (e.g. no band or DJ, just an ipod in the corner). FH and I are both in the BP (not best man or MOH). We’ve been best friends with them for about 7 years. They are both in our BP (not best man or MOH).

FH wants to give them $500 at their wedding. While, normally, I would think that’s an appropriate gift, I am 99% sure that even if we give $500, we won’t get it back at ours. I know that sounds selfish, but I just wanted some input.

What do you girls think? TIA!

Thats a tough call......can you afford to? If so and youre not super worried about money than I would just go for it and try not to think about whether or not you'll get it back. If money is tight maybe you could do less and also throw in some gifts...maybe something sentimental since youre so close...either put together something special using things from their registry so theyll think of you when they see them, or if you know of something they need/want thats not on their registry that would be great too. Plus then you can take advantage of sales/coupons.

So after all that...if youre worried about the money then yes, I think you could get away with less. Lol, hope that helps

I totally agree. I think you could give less and be fine, but if you have it then go for it.

I agree as well. It's hard going to a wedding in another state with a 'long island' mentality on giving a gift.
