Do many people give gifts for a wedding present? (instead of money). What kind of gifts are more popular for weddings than showers?
I'm just wondering because (not to sound greedy, i'm just curious) we didn't get any china, silverware, sheets, towels, or luggage for my shower. I was just wondering if any of these were more likely to be given as wedding gifts.
(sheets and towels are usually popular for showers though, aren't they?)

Re: Gift Question
All of that is pretty popular for showers. What DID you get at your shower if you didn't get any of that?
My sister got 100% money at her wedding...and I think that's pretty common
ETA: you can use the $$ to buy the stuff you want at a discunt after the wedding!

Re: Gift Question
One of my best friends from HS sent us monogrammed sheets off our registry & a Pottery Barn gift card as our wedding present.

Re: Gift Question
I think you will probably get mostly $ at the wedding. Gifts are more for Showers in NY. However, if you have some OOT guest they may send gifts (in a lot of places it is a considered rude to give $).

Re: Gift Question
You'll probably get mostly money for the wedding. Exchange/return anything you don't want or need from the shower and use some of the money from your wedding to buy the stuff you really want.

Re: Gift Question
well, silverware and luggage are really expensive..for my sister, she has been married a year and I think she has one pace setting of silver..it's a lot of $$. The BP got her the luggage. So, don't be tood isappointd, it's really expensive stuff, and so a lot of people can't afford it. Hopefully they'll make up for it with $$ at the wedding and u can buy everything you need!
