Someone who can not make it to our wedding sent us a check, but postdated it for 9/1. Now, I know everyone likes to organize their checkbooks and all, so usually I would deposit it right away, but should I wait until 9/1? I think she may have put 9/1 because our wedding is 9/21 and she just left the 2 off because she's a little flaky. Will the bank even deposit it if the date is 9/1?

Re: Gift Question
Don't deposit it. The bank wont let you deposit it, if they notice the date. If they don't it will bounce and you will get a fee. Wait until 9-1

Re: Gift Question
Actually I just found this out recently. The bank WILL deposit it....even if it's post dated and if the person that wrote it out doesn't expect that it will be deducted until 9/1 then they might bounce the check. Most banks have in the account contracts that it is against policy to post date a check.... So I say NO, don't deposit it until 9/1 or after.

Re: Gift Question
I would wait. Maybe there is a reason why she dated it 9/1... waiting for 8/31 paycheck?
