So FH and I had a ton of weddings so far this year, and I've been noticing a lack of etiquette. After one wedding, we just received a photo of the bride and groom - no thank you note in the envelope at all. This also happened to all our friends that went to that wedding. For another, we received an emailed thank you note. And - the worst - recently we received a TEXT thanking us for a wedding gift. I know you don't give a gift to get thanked, but is this the direction we're going in?? Has anyone else experienced things like this? And it has been more than 6 months since all 3 weddings, so I think that's all we're getting.

Re: gift vent
That has never happened to me before. I always got a picture in a thank you card. I don't think e-mailing or sending a text is right. They should take the time to write out a card and actually say thank you. I think a picture of the couple is also a nice keepsake for the guests. I know that I have thank you pics with cards included in my package. I would never send an e-mail or text.

I have thank you photos included in my package too and we'll send them out with thank you notes - but in this case we just got the photo - no note!

Re: gift vent
we didnt do picture cards because i didnt want to wait for them and liked our traditional linen cards.
i had all of our thank yous out before the 1 month mark, with the exception of DH's 2 bosses (who couldn't attend and sent gifts -- one we received this week, and the other I needed him to get the wife's name for the card).
didnt do our few no-gifters and vendors yet, but im going to wait a little longer on those.
a text?! i cant believe it

Re: gift vent
is it possible that they are sending a thank you because their cards wont be ready for some time...and they just want to send it now ...in addition to the card later? I know that ediquite (sp) says that you have up to one year to send a thankyou

This could be a possibility. My MOH just sent out her picture thank you cards recently - almost a year since her wedding! But it was only because they were specially designed and took extra long to create. However, if that is all they have sent, I think that's poor etiquette. As informal as I am, even I would send an actual thank you card.

technically I think it is supposed to be up to a year but I think it's best to get them out asap. I went to one over a year and a half and got nothing AND it was a relative. The text is unbelievable. . seriously I wonder if they texted the older adults too / / like thx 4 the prez! awful

Umm thats terrible ... even if thats the direction we are going towards I will step out of the box and send an actualy thank you card...
People are nice enough to buy you a gift, i think that the bride and groom can take time out to write thank you's... like personalize them even! ya know what im sayin hehe
