Gifts from guests who rsvp'ed no?

Gifts from guests who rsvp'ed no?

Totally a question just out of curiousity - I know that etiquette-wise, no one even needs to give gifts at a wedding, much less a guest that RSVPs no. But just out of curiousity, how many of your non-attending guests have given gifts? Very few of ours have. Which again, I don't mind - just wondering if that's the norm.

i'd say about 50% of my no's sent a gift. not that I think that they had to, but it was nice of them.

not all gave a gift who rsvp'd no but a decent amount i would say. Some sent a gift with their rsvp card replying no. But many sent gifts after. The week before the wedding and even until we got back from the HM we kept receiving alot of gifts, it was fun too bad its over now . Everyday i was like Oooo did we get something new

When I RSVP no I send a gift , I haven't sent my invites out yet, so I am not sure what my potential guests are going to do.

dh and I are still receiving gifts and cards with money. and we both are very grateful, they really did not have to but they are. we have received something everyday since the wedding.

I'd say over 50% of those who RSVP'd no sent a gift. We also had 2 people who did come to the wedding and gave us nothing. I know that a gift isn't a requirement, but I'd never go to a wedding empty handed.

I'd say about 10-15% of my 'no' rsvps included a gift with their reply.

I'd say about 1/4 of our No's gave a gift.

I have been invited to weddings that I couldn't attend and this is my own rule:

If I am invited and I cannot attend, and it wasn't really a close person or I was obviously on a B or C list (how did I know? my invite was postmarked after the RSVP date and the wedding was across the country in 2 weeks!), then I don't feel obligated to get anything.

If I am really close to the person and for some reason I just cannot attend (one was a destination wedding the same weekend as my sister's college graduation, one was a really close friend but it was a quickly-planned wedding and I was unable to change my work schedule on such short notice), then I buy a really nice present from the registry.

We received a gift from about 1/2 of the people who said no. I have to admit, I have never sent a gift to an event I didn't go to (shower or wedding) and now I feel terrible about that! From now on, I will always send a gift!

So far we got 3 checks. I'm a little surprised with some people...(I agree with you they don't have to give anything) but I know FH has given them $ when they got married and same with me. Maybe they are waiting to send a card closer to the wedding.

Almost all of the RSVP (no) did (I can only think of one that didn't) Although I'm still getting gifts in the mail don't mind that! I can say that some of them did go to the shower though and had a pre-engagement on the wedding day (a lot of college graduations) so they couldn't come to the wedding so a lot of them gave shower gifts, can't complain to that either!

I think we got a gift from one person who RSVP'ed no. Im still annoyed that a friends family who ive known since I was 6, didnt RSVP at all nor did they even send me a card. I dont like to dwell but this hit a sore spot. I would have totally understood a NO rsvp since theyre in Florida but they couldnt even mail the self-stamped RSVP back to me. Shows you how much people really care...okay vent over
