Gifts you receive.....

is anyone using the gifts they receive prior to your wedding from your registry??

our spare bedroom is filled with gifts from our engagement and keep in mind my shower is not until the end of march. My FH wants to use all of our gifts and i keep telling him its bad luck not until we are married..

anyone else going thru this?

I don't like superstitions... we totally started using our stuff like the kitchen knives. The rest like our china and serveware are stored away. No way I'm keeping good stuff in a closet for another 3 months before I can use it...

I got engaged almost 2 years ago! I bought a house 5 months ago. So yes we use everything we received at the engagement party. I don't think its bad luck. I think it is a blessing that people gave us/you something to start your lives together!

I've never heard of it being bad luck to use eparty gifts before the wedding.

I think you can use them as soon as you get them.

Unless its specifically for your wedding, like a cake cutter/server, or toasting flutes, the I wouldnt touch those things.

We have been engaged for almost a yr and a half ago, we have started using some gifts (mostly kitchen & bar items) frames, toasting flutes, cake cutting set, etc... Will be saved for our wedding or newlywed phase.

I don't think it's bad luck. I am going to try and save my shower gifts for when we buy a house after the wedding but if I need soemthing I will use it.

I have used everything we got from our engagement party! IMHO, the gifts you get at the engagement party are meant to celebrate your engagement so feel free to use them now

We don't live together, so we haven't used any thing we received from our engagement party... except theatre & restaurant giftcards.

We live together, and my mom won't let us use the gifts we got for our Engagement Party. She kept everything at her house. She wants us to have all the new stuff after we're married.

I moved in the dh 3 months before the wedding. We received some gifts at the engagement party but I didn't use any of them until we moved in together.. and even then it was little by little. We needed some stuff and used what he had to get by until we were officially married.. and now most of the stuff is still in the boxes in the closet

Had gifts mailed to us from OOT guests not attending the shower, and we're using them. After the shower, we plan on using our Keurig

MY FSIL said that. I had never heard of it but I think we will be using them. I doubt my marriage will crumble bc we used the appliances and sheets too soon. I don't want a billion boxes everywhere!
