Hi, Working on my wedding review but when we opened our gifts this weekend we noticed 2 couples did not give us anything. I mean not even a card saying congrats, glad we could celebrate with you. I was thinking we lost the cards - but I do not dare ask. Thoughts on how to handle or just let it go... ?

Re: Gifts/Envelopes
SUPPOSEDLY THERE IS some weird one year rule that you have a year to give a gift........

Re: Gifts/Envelopes
Maybe the gifts are on their way? Considering your wedding was two days ago (congrats!!), I would wait about a month before assuming anything.
I got married 5 months ago and have yet to receive a card or gift from 4 attendees.
I wrote all my thank you's already. Two of those 4 non-gifters were out of towners (meaning, they had to either fly in and/or stay in the hotel) so I sent them a thank you card saying thanks for making the trip up and for celebrating with us.

I hope it was an oversight on their part, that one of them forgot the card at home in a mad rush to get to your reception. I hope.
I don't know how I would handle something like this. You need to examine how well you know these people, how important is their relationship to you or your DH. You may want to let it go if they are co-workers or a boss. If its family, close or distant, it may be eaier to approach with the help of your mother/father.

Re: Gifts/Envelopes
soooooooooooooo weird! I go to a wedding I give a gift. If they couldnt afford - no biggie, a card with happy thoughts would be fine. My thank-yous are going out in 2 weeks so I guess I'll just thank them for coming! Thanks...

Re: Gifts/Envelopes
They are our cousins and we love them and us! Very close.. and it is just not like them : ) It doesnt matter at this point - everyone was so generous and we feel so lucky. I was just stumped and thought for sure I misplaced it!

Re: Gifts/Envelopes
We had this happen to us. We had 2 couples and 2 individuals who did not give us a gift, and still haven't sent anything. I felt awkward as well. They didn't even give us a card. We were so blessed with so many wonderful gifts but I would have liked at least a card. Writing my thank you's has been strange. I am just writing thank you for sharing in our special day. You may get more gifts as the time passes but if not there isn't much you can do.

Re: Gifts/Envelopes
It happens, sometimes people leave the card at home, or forget to give it to you when they see you because they are too busy complementing you on how great you look Wait a few days, it might be on its way.

Re: Gifts/Envelopes
unfortunately it happens we have at least 4 'very close' friends who didn't give us gifts - not even a card - verrrry strange and until now we're still scratching our heads ... I highly doubt they know about the 'one year rule' since they don't even know that it is extremely rude not to give a gift grrr! ... ok, I thought i got over this but when I think about it, it just upsets me

Re: Gifts/Envelopes
i read about a similar situation to another bride and she had the BEST solution....
she called up and was like hi mr. blah i was just writing the thank you notes and i think we lost your card so im not sure if you wrote out a check but i just wanted to let you know so you could put a stop on it, and thank you so much for coming!
lol i thought that was a really good way to go about it
